Forlatt
Hey guys and girls! So, I finally started building my own city and I really love the simplicity of the Creation Kit when it comes to building atmosphere. But I stumbled upon a major problem when it comes to giving quests. The thing is that there's isn't any dialogue box popping up as soon as I talk to my questgiver. He just keeps asking me what's up and if I need something. Now I've followed the tutorials step by step, so that isn't the problem, but I did find a guy experiencing the same issue here:http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=J7iFKJk97Cc Sadly enough, he doesn't provide the answer very clear. What he does say is:"make sure your voice type has idle and hello recordings (misc tab) and make sure your wavs are 16 bit mono pcm wav, at the sample rate i put in the annotations of this video."Perhaps he actually is extremely clear, but I'm a n00b and I simply don't get it :(
David Brasher
The leading cause of custom dialog not being available is an incorrectly set alias. It will break and disable the entire quest. Bad aliases often results from building quest marker flags wrong on even the simplest of quests. I assume that you already have your quest set to "Start Game Enabled" and do not have any quest conditions that are not met? I assume that you do not have any conditions on the first dialog infos that cannot be met, and that the GetIsID or whatever you are using points to the correct actor(s)? I assume that you have a fast and powerful computer. The slightest bit of lag is enough to prevent custom dialog from being available on a random basis. gasti89
Adding something to what David said, since the new update it seems Start Game Enabled quests often don't show dialogues. It's a strange bug since the quest effectively starts and aliases get filled correctly (for example if you have a forcegreet, the NPC will walk at you). This bug has two fixes: - save the game with the mod enabled and reload - uncheck start game enabled from your quest. Then make an empty "start game enabled" quest, with only 1 stage. In the fragment make this quest start your quest.
Forlatt
The save/reload fix worked perfectly! Thank you very much! Both of you.
