Analbag92
Hello. decided to learn how to make custom armor for skyrim and folllow these videos https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=V4V6aho6pYs&list=PLgwMo6_yPng_agWczmr5H4UCWD7H4nrQr&index=1 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gf3qDPfBr1E&t=23s and lots of googling. know to my problem, i used nifskope to merge 2 armors (steel plate armor and mage robe) in the creation kit everything looks ok but in game the mage hood texture is invisible.iam sure its an easy fix but i can't find. this is for skyrim special edition. thumbincubation
Which mage robes are you using? If it's the apprentice robes, like the Vigilants wear, look for Madcat221's "Robed Steel Plate Armor" mod, already done and working.

thumbincubation
I understand. I don't think that armor has a hood normally attached, but the hoods come as a separate item. If you're attached a hood to it, during the mashup process, check to see if there's a Ni Alpha Property on the hood and it's trying to reference a deleted/clear portion of the texture. If I recall correctly, though, the apprentice robes should just have the little shoulder mantle.

thumbincubation
Ok, taking a guess at this here, but open up CK and take a look at two different items, side-by-side. ClothesMonkRobesColorBrown and ClothesMonkRobesColorBrownHooded In a side-by-side, click the "show all" boxes next to the "Models" section, where it shows the various armor addons. The regular monk robes contain one armor addon, which points to the normal robe mesh. The hooded version contains three armor addons, one pointing to the robe and the other two pointing to versions of the hood, (the second hood being specially fitted for Argonians.) I could be wrong, but it sounds like you have a mesh with a hood, but only a robe armor addon, so the game isn't expecting to see a hood. If there's not a hooded version of the apprentice robes in Ck, for you to use, try duplicating the hooded monk robes and make sure you have armor addons for both robe and hood, as well as any additional beast race hoods. If it's not that, then I'm afraid I have no more ideas. Hope it helps.
