I have 18(had to count them)got my first when i was 14yo.My father considered it an initiation into pre-adulthood.He was in the Navy in WW3,on a PT boat. His arms were covered in the old style tats

of his day. He's dead now but i still remember them as they were snapshots burned into my memory.

My first tat was a girlfriends name,Betty(oops)which did cause some problems but only during arguments that i was winning did the subject come up so i learned to lose arguments. Most of the rest i chose according to some meaningful life event or personal belief.

That cow tat makes me wonder what sort of event or belief that fellow wants to remember lol.

As others have said they are very personal and one has to consider how one might view them in the future.Artists today do very good quality cover up work so you don't have to worry too much.Main thing is the artist. He or she should display their own work and it's good to feel that they understand what you want to express."A picture speaks a thousand words",so a drawing or photo is going help a lot.I used to subscribe to Tattoo Magazine and have seen some very nice portrait work of family members and pets,of first automobiles or motorcycles. In your case a military tat would be a good choice to commemorate that life event.Anyway, you're on the right path by seeking input and giving it lots of thought.

The best tattoo is one that will represent a point in time of your life. I look at them as a story of my history. Therefore, I don't regret any of them, and you don't end up getting messy cover-up tat's.

I do want one more, but I'm waiting, because it will be with a certain someone, and something we can both like and is meaningful for us.

... isn't that right dear, and you go make me a sammich.

I do love the old skool pin-up girls from the 40's and 50's. If you check out my screenies I have my favourite one there.
