Dawnguard; Lord Harkon stuck

When Lord Harkon is about to transform to a Vampire Lord, he never does. He just says "Behold the Power!" and he just stands there and when i talk to him again he just repeats what he said before. When I use console commands to try and progress it makes things worse by crashing >.<.

Bump

Also I have no mods installed, lastest skyrim patch and not using SKSE. Fresh install. It only happens on one of my computers.

Custom Computer

ATI Radeon 4650

Intel Pentium 4

Windows Vista x32

4GB RAM

1GB VRAM

Installed on a external hard drive

I also tried verifying cache on steam. No problems with dawnguard or skyrim

  • 2 months later...

SAME problem here! i am desperate...i tryied everything (console commands, new save) but nothing seems to fix this erritating pest!

from console commands i typed without luck : setstage dlc1qv02 180 (after you accept the reward) but he just walks away.......without me being a vampire lord nor able to talk to him.....

moreover i used this one : setstage vampirebaseintro 20 it didn't do anything at all!

Does Harkon have that "dark aura" effect after yelling? If yes, the game is slow trying to load all the assets and executing the script for transformation. i know some racemods and other things that affect vampirism can cause that, but not necessarily.

If really nothing happens after yelling, then it is a quest execution problem. no idea if there's a fix/workaround yet, but most those bugs are caused when something unexpected happens to the questline script, e.g. entering through the wrong door, sneaking when a force-dialogue happens etc.

He doesn't even yell....he just say "behold the power" and walks some steps back.....and nothing,,,,no dark aura no yelling

yeah, with "yelling" i actually meant him raising his voice to say "behold the power". give it like... 10-15 seconds, if by then he doesn't transform, i'd guess it's a sequence bug. you could try to load from an earlier savegame before you entered castle volkihar.

I saw some videos in which after the "behold the power" he says "aghh"

I 've already tryied loading before the castle, no luck... it even gave me another anoying bug, the "can't draw weapons" bug

But i load again from another save in which i had my weapons drawn ;)

aghhh.....

nah, when you enter Castle Volkihar, you are supposed to not be able to draw your weapons or go into the Tab menu. ;o

Though i'm out of guesses for your problem. it still seems to be sequence bug. i checked UESP.net and they have this in their bug section:

After speaking with Harkon about accepting his gift, he may not transform, instead simply standing there. If you approach him and talk to him again, you will have to repeat the dialogue from when you introduce yourself, and even after that he will still not transform.
After speaking with Harkon about accepting his gift, he may not transform, instead simply standing there. If you approach him and talk to him again, he will make noises ("Yeargh") and still not transform.

Start a new game WITHOUT Dawnguard installed (don't enable Dawnguard for NMM users), Save, Exit the game, Install Dawnguard (enable Dawnguard for NMM users), Start the savegame previuosly made without Dawnguard and the bug will not appear in that Save. This procedure not allow to remove the bug from other savegames made with Dawnguard Installed (Enabled). (Tested with Nexus Mod Manager for an easy uninstallation/installation of Dawnguard)
