Wolfskin75
Alright I am making a mashup for my own personal use. I am adding a hostler on the side for my 10mm. Most importantly, I am trying to add a holstered RU556 - Assault rifle in the front of an outfit I am working on. (cause it would look cool. I think a scar-h would look cool too) I am unsure how to provide the model (mesh and textures) to add in Bodyslide and outfit studio. Hopefully I am making sense. SpaceMachineSixThousandOne
Well back when this game launched I decided to drop that idea. There are other cool things that get dropped just because it makes life more easy. It would be different if we could use the actual weapon which wouldn't even be that hard to do. It's just nodes on the skeleton, but this isn't Skyrim. Almost nobody cares about Fallout, specially in that way. Because of the fact that we can't use the actual weapon that is being used. Instead it's a mock up of the weapon that was converted to a static object that was rigged & skinned to the skeleton as if it were a piece of armor. This is how we began using those add on armor pieces that were weapons. It became cheating in effect because now going commando was more protective than power armor. Fallout 4 is already a known OP game, it's beyond that. I dare say it's one of the most over powered player character situations of all time. Specially when we factor in the poor weapons of any potential enemy. So once we had this wearable weapon idea established, and at first it was because we were used to that idea. The idea was exploited to provide DR and bonus to a already OP player character. Now the proper way to do that would be to assemble a replica of the modded weapon, the one that is custom from the player modifying it at a workbench. This would have to be assembled so it's one piece, then it would have to be stripped of it's animated static status, and formed again as a rigged mesh as part of a already existing armor. In this case one that is on a fully imported character model. Even then one has to find a way to preview the many animations the player character makes to adjust the newly rigged mesh for clipping which would interrupt the gameplay. Also there's a separation between world model, 3rd person model, and 1st person model which all cycle the amount of assets the game uses to render the weapon. Then most armors are now set in armor addon which makes them difficult to work with. The workaround we came up with was to use generic weapons that are offered along side the custom weapon or via 3rd party download. But in that case now you have a weapon look one way on the player character as decoration, and look a different way when it's being used. Add in the fact that it's extra work and time to even set up the workaround generic weapons for decoration on the body, and now it's a difficult life to live. On the other hand, this isn't required to play the game. I've yet to see armors that were created with particular weapons in mind, and to have the weapon be part of the armor. It exists as it's own separate mod, and there are weapon mods that tie into it. But that don't make it a good idea to jump head first into extra work when there's already enough work. Specially when it's a very troublesome and problematic game. This forum is Creation Kit and Modders. Inside is the pre-1000 download board for disusing mod creation. In your case this idea might also include the 3D art boards which come in Autodesk or Blender flavors specific to that. Bodyslide/OutfitStudio exists mostly on YouTubes unless you contact them directly which is also a option. Weigh the options, and decide what is best for you. Thanks. Wolfskin75
Thank you for commenting. I will take your advice. As well as read it a couple times. A lot of information in there.. when I saw this "effect" as side holster, and my Stahl arm 10mm automatically replaced my average 10mm I was blown away. to then take a screen shot with a weapon you use on your character... wow. I played Skyrim and being a AVID D&D player I thought that was the game for me. So did my friends. As a joke, someone suggested I take time off and Fallout 4. I haven't looked back. lol. Anyway, I have an idea for an outfit and I have seen scenes like in in screenshots. So, Why can't I customize and outfit with it right? ADD a habit of loving to have a "reason" for a mod (like not downloading mods that give you immunity to everything and bullet proof. ) Don't get me wrong either, I don't use frost and I am not a survivor level player. I just that Nate and Nora might have made planned for worst case and made some outfits for survival. Once you (whether it be Nate or Nora) get out of the Vault and discover the world is as not as "hot" as you would think you still have defense to worry about. anyway.. I am ranting. again.. thank you for your comments. Edited May 23, 2019 by Wolfskin75
