XxILLxOMENxX
OK, so I just got oblivion for PC and want to completely deck it with mods due to all of the cool things I have seen jumping through the file lists, however, I am new to this and have never modded this game before so two things really. 1. I hate oblivion's vanilla character models both male and female, and would like to change those, so what would general opinion be on a good male body replacer, and a good, but not stupid perverted, female body replacer be 2. in my searching I have seen names such as 'HGEC" and "BBB" what do those mean, and how would I get these mods to run properly seeming some mods just work and others need certain things to operate looking for some constructive advice, and recommendations. show some love for the new kid on the block :)
XxILLxOMENxX
oh sorry I forgot this in original message, but I had bought the game via steam this won't affect it in the least will it? hasn't done it to me in the past with some of my other games, but I have had a few odd cases
DocRob
Best male body mod (IMO) and also in terms of overall mods I've seen for it is Roberts Male Body Replacer V52: http://oblivion.nexusmods.com/mods/40532 If you want a female body that looks great, I recommend Roberts Female Body Replacer v13: http://oblivion.nexusmods.com/mods/15624 Come standard with nude and permanent underwear versions. Alternatively, though I've only had a little experience so far with it, is Team Fantasy Female: http://oblivion.nexusmods.com/mods/12073 This one has a wide selection of outfits/armors, and looks as good as Roberts. Default bodies are nude, though there is an underwear mod for it (can't find it at the moment but it's here on the Nexus; check the Clothing mods section.) ; if you go with TFF (also sometimes called UFF) I recommend using these skin textures: Luchaire's UFF Body Texture V2 http://oblivion.nexusmods.com/mods/19008 And I've found this works nicely with all of the above: Luchaires HGEC Body Seam Reducer: http://oblivion.nexusmods.com/mods/19738 Even though it t says for HGEC, I've used it for both versions of the Roberts Body (my "main" choice) and UFF with no issues; it reduces body seams to a complete minimum though most times, this is not a huge issue as armor/clothes covers it. If you're bothered by the visible neckline, which so far no mod has been able to do much with (due to the design of the character models), try this: Luchaires Neck Seam Concealer: http://oblivion.nexusmods.com/mods/18669 To your other questions: HGEC is Hentai Gentleman's Eye Candy; its a decent body replacer for females but suffers from issues of having "man hands"; there is a mod out there that lets you use smaller hands, but from things I've read, its not compatible with all the HGEC clothing/armor mods out there. It's also worth noting HGEC comes in several variations (bust size, lower bodies, etc.) and can be a bit overwhelming to sort through all that if you're new to things (or even been at it for some time!). BBB is Better Bouncing Boobs/Butts, which pretty much adds "jiggle" animation to HGEC bodies (if I'm wrong on this--and I'm basing it solely on reading mod descriptions--someone feel free to correct me.) HGEC's biggest advantage is it has a HUGE number of clothing/armor mods for it, but a good chunk of them are very revealing, whereas this is a lot less common with Roberts/TFF. In fact if you want "tastefully sexy", ie., bared midriffs and lots of thigh, there are some very nice TFF/UFF outfits out there (browse through the clothing mods and you'll find them.) Again, though, I have very little experience with it as I only just started using it (I liked many of the outfits, some of which had been converted for Roberts Female.) As for the Steam version and mods, can't really say for sure there; I'm using the GOTY disk version myself. You'd do well to check around the forums, from what I've read it is possible to get many mods (if not all) to work just fine with the Steam version, but it might take a few extra steps in setup. Or not; seems to depend on the individual mods themselves. Finally, as for mods out there...I wouldn't even know where to begin to start suggesting which ones to use, there are just so many to choose from, so I suggest doing as I did: browse the lists, read the descriptions, and decide if it sounds like something you'd like. Currently I run close to 200 mods myself, and recently got into actually making them myself. Two things that are an absolute must though with mods: 1. WryeBash http://oblivion.nexusmods.com/mods/22368 The ultimate tool for mod installation, sorting, save game profiling, etc. A must-have for any Oblivion gamer. 2. BOSS: http://oblivion.nexusmods.com/mods/20516 Run this after installing mods and it'll save you a lot of problems/headaches 99% of the time, by adjusting your load order so your mods play nice with one another. Also helpful is Oblivion Mod Manager (OBMM): http://oblivion.nexusmods.com/mods/2097 You'll need these for files marked as OMODs; it's actually pretty handy to use, as it not only installs mods but handles activation/deactivation as well. Good luck, and I hope this info is of some help to you. :-)
bben46
Highly recommend OBSE (Oblivion Script Extender) not a mod but a utility program - many mods require it and if you try to run one of those the game will crash without it. It is a load once and forget it - but you must always start the game with the OBSE launcher and not the Oblivion launcher. Both OBMM and Wrye Bash include the OBSE launcher so it can be launched directly from either of them. Get the latest version here: http://obse.silverlock.org/ The install and read me are included in the download - be sure to read the documentation Here is a link to my Geek to English Dictionary (Oblivion Edition) http://s1.zetaboards.../3396037/1/#new And another source for what the acronyms mean.http://wiki.tesnexus.com/index.php/Common_acronyms
Rennn
As for making mods not conflict, don't get two mods that edit the same thing. For example, if you get one mod that replaces the female body, don't get another mod that replaces the female body at the same time.If you get one mod that alters weapon damage, don't get another mod that alters weapon stats. If you get a mod that makes widespread changes to the levelled spawns in Oblivion, avoid other mods that add spawns and creatures. If you get certain mods, like Open Cities, it will conflict with almost any other mod that affects cities as well. XxILLxOMENxX
thanks for the advice guys. Funny thing is after I posted this I was scouring around and learned most of what I was asking about, I have OBSE, WryE Bash, OBMM and a few other things, The Male body swapper looks and works great much better then the other one I found (sorry I forgot name of it) and the HGEC body swapper was very easy to work with and a few mods to swap the standard crappy foot and hand models now there is no problems I am loving the tools available to modders too, finally get to have some real fun with blender
