SSE How can I identify textures?

Hi there, beginner here. ;)

I started in retexturing some things that disturb me in dwemer locations. One of that things are the dwemer chests, that are very low-res and I couldn't find any mod that adresses this. So I have no idea how the textures are named or located. I've searched the games bsas, but with no luck.

So my very first and maybe dumb question is: how can I identify and locate a texture I want to replace? And how can I get the original game texture?

The easiest way of doing this is open the .nif file of the chest in Nifskope and it will tell you which texture it is using

It's dwecontainer02, but I can't find that specific texture anywhere. I've extracted all nine original Texture bsas, the texture isn't in there. Are there any other places to look at?

Edit: Ok, found it. It's the texture for the dwemer centurions, I watched out for the wrong value within nifscope.

The nif is called dwecontainer02. but the texture are multiple.

Extract the nif and open it in nifscope

textures\dungeons\dwemerruins\DweStoneBorders03.dds

textures\dungeons\dwemerruins\DweStoneFloor04.dds

textures\dungeons\dwemerruins\DweStoneFloor02.dds

textures\actors\dwarvenspherecenturion\DwarvenSphereCenturion.dds

Is it, in any way, possible to identify such textures while in the game?


Edit: For now I'm using the mod "More Information Console" for this, it gives you informations like the used .nif file. Afterwards I try to locate the .nif and look for the used texture. Maybe there is a better way doing this.
