Bottles as Weapons

Just saw a request for bottles which smash upon impact http://forums.nexusmods.com/index.php?/topic/766939-breakable-bottles/ and then i had a better idea, well, sort of the same but, not :)

 

so how about this:

 

All empty nuka cola and sunset bottles now become weapons which can be used once for a melee attack, and then shatter upon impact providing 500x fatigue damage to the target (to simulate a good crack to the head). It'd require minor rescripting on the two bottle items, and using their textures and meshes to clone two new weapons for each bottle.. oh and provide a smashing SFX upon impact.

 

That'd sure make for some interesting bar fights :devil: and that doesn't sound too hard to implement at all.

 

and how nice would it be to floor Joe Cobb in this manner?

That's exactly what I suggested in the other thread.

 

noo you said something about throwing them like some parisian student, I'm talking about using them to club NPCs upside the head like a redneck in a redneck bar.

 

There is a difference.

 

Besides, throwing bottles on their own doesn't count as much as a weapon unless there was some recipe out there to make molotov cocktails... which there probably is.

Didn't mean to offend ya, But I'm pretty sure I suggested that. Plus this is probably a better thread to be talking about bottle weapons rather then just breaking bottles.

I also had this idea when reading the previously mentioned thread. I'd try to make it, but it's pointless without having models for broken bottles. If someone were to make some though...

 

I think to make the bottles break there'd have to be a trigger assigned to when the bottle takes damage which would spawn some static fragments of broken glass in a large radius around its place to simulate the explosion while the main bottle item just disappears. That'd be the easiest way to do it and it'd save time if it used the same fragments spawn for every bottle type rather than having specific shards of glass for nuka and sunset and w/e else.

 

Sure, a talented artist could pull apart the models for each and every bottle and make chunks of glass specific to each one, but I don't think that's going to happen unless someone volunteers to do it..

Okay then, I didn't realize that what's you meant when you were talking about throwing bottles. :trollface:

There's not that many bottles, and I don't think it's that much work. I just don't have the necessary know-how.

 

Having the bottle disappear could certainly work too. In my vision the first hit with an intact bottle would break it, and make it into a broken bottle that could still be wielded as a slashing weapon.

Actually it would be a piece of cake to create/implement such a weapon.

The MPS for the impact already exists.

the SFX too. Minimal effort required to do such a bottle weapon.

would need just 2 scripts tops.
