ENB Sharpshooter's Troubleshoot

I have been having trouble getting ENB Sharpshooter's graphics mod to stay working. When I initially installed it it would immediately CTD after I tried to load a game, or start a new one. The game would load and it would display the MOD information in the upper right hand corner so I know it was installed correctly. So, I did a fresh install and had it running great with several other mods (all installed with the download manager). Unfortunately, after I did some tweaks in the NVIDIA control panel, the CTD issue is back. I restored all of the NVIDIA settings back to "factor presets" and it still CTD.

I can always do another fresh install, but does anyone have any idea what may be going on? I don't overclock so I am not using any of the software that would cause that well known conflict. Only other differences from when I had it running correctly and when the CTD issue came back was the tweaking in the NVIDIA control panel, I also ran FRAPS and GameBooster, but I don't think either of those would be the issue? (I did uninstall both and give it a go, but it still CTD).

Any thoughts? Thanks.

So I decided to do a fresh install and got it working again. However, the CTD issue came back after I adjusted some of the graphics options in the launcher - specifically I adjusted the resolution.. I'm not a noob at the installation of mods, but certainly do not have the technical expertise to troubleshoot issues like this (I just read the directions very carefully).

Anyone know what may be going on?

Here are the steps to fix this.

Back up your Skyrim and SkyrimPrefs ini to your desktop. (always a good idea when making changes) These are in your Documents/My Games/Skyrim folder

Delete RendererInfo located in the same folder as the above inis.

Now run the Skyrim launcher and a new RendererInfo text will be generated with the new resolution that you selected. New default inis will also be generated.

If you are currently using tweaked inis after running the launcher delete the new inis that are generated and replace them with the ones you saved to desktop.

Have fun! :)

Edit: And for future reference set your Skyrim options the way you want (especially resolution) before installing and launching any ENB mod. ;)

Thanks Staind, I ended up doing another fresh install, but I will keep this in mind for the next time I mess it up :)

Speaking of messing it up, I am doing everything I can to resist purchasing a new GTX 680, but I don't know how much longer I can hold out. If I install a new video card, will I run into a similar problem? From what it appears they way the renderinfo.txt is generated I probably will, but will your work around correct any issues?
