G0RII
Using blender I tried to combine two different models of an M16 (I took the stock, handguard and pistol grip from an m16 model that had been ripped from rising storm 2). I got to open in nifskope and then added to the game. In first person everything looks fine, as seen here: Until I aim down the sights: In 3rd person however I started to notice issues: Parts of the gun are misaligned but only in 3rd person. Not only this, but the gun has no sound or muzzle flash and when I do a reload, certain parts of the gun move normally but not others. So clearly something is wrong. I open up nifskope to see what the issue is and I see this: The BSfadenode is all messed up. Ideally I'd want it to look more like this: So obviously I messed up here. What is the correct process for making a custom mesh from multiple gun models? How can I retain the properties of the original model?
dubiousintent
Suggest you look over the "Custom Items", "Blender Mesh Editor", "Conversions", "Nifskope Mesh Editor", and "Weapons" sections of the wiki "Getting started creating mods using GECK" article. There are several tutorials covering how to "mash up" weapons from mesh parts of multiple other mods..-Dubious-

I do have one more question though that I forgot to bring up after all this time. Some of my custom models are causing Fps drops. Why is this happening and how can I fix it? dubiousintent
I'm not a modeller, but see if the Blender thread "How to correctly analyse and profile your game" is any help. (I would appreciate any feedback on how useful you found it, before adding it as a resource to the wiki.) -Dubious-
