Mod help?

Okay, so I recently bought Skyrim for PC obviously. I've never played the PC version before and am totally new to modding in general. But, after a few days I thought I had the basic gist of it and downloaded some appearance mods (new hair, eyes, bodies, clothes and such.) I haven't downloaded any big behavior/world modifying mods yet. (Except for one that improves Breezehome.) Anyway, I tried to run the game and it immediately crashed before the game even got past the Bethesda logo. I checked on the NMM (I installed all of the files using that. I was still very confused about how you do it manually.) What I saw was that a bunch of the mods I had downloaded suddenly had a <no data> sign next to them. I wasn't sure what that meant so I unchecked them and NMM said it uninstalled them. I tried to run Skyrim again with the other mods that didn't say <no data> but it still crashed. I'd like to know if this is a problem with NMM or if i've installed mods incorrectly or a combination of both of these things.

Are you using the latest version of Apachii? I think you're missing the .esm

@asdgora It turns out I didn't have the Appachii esm. I guess I overlooked that when I installed it. XD

 

@bben46 your links were very helpful as well. I'm going to look into how to manually install things and learn more about Mod load order later so I can add some more mods.

 

The game seems to be running ok for now since I installed the other files though.
