Yknuf
Hi everyone, for a few days I have been been having a strange problem, when I go into dungeons the dungeon soundtracks won't play. Instead, the outdoor music continues to sound. Needless to say, this totally kills immersion in dungeons. I have been turning music off in dungeons, but I wouldn't want to miss out on the dungeon music for the rest of my Skyrim life. After a long google search I found a single other person who had posted this problem in a different forum and he received no answer. Has anyone else experienced this or knows what the reason may be? I could post my modlist but it's rather long so I would like to ask first if anyone knows if it's maybe not even due to mods but another reason. I use the Dawn music mod and sounds of skyrim (at the moment only dungeons) but I used them before too and didn't have any problems and unchecking them now doesn't solve the problem. I have a few other minor sound altering mods for various sound effects but I can't imagine them being the problem, as they too worked before without problems. So, what could be causing this? Where in the Skyrim folder do I find the music tracks anyway? Is it in the Data/sound folder? I can't tell what in there is from mods and what is original. I will be very grateful for any suggestions.
Yknuf
Update: I did some more testing. First of all, the same problem also occurs with the tavern music. Inside of inns and taverns the outdoor music keeps playing. The Jarl residence music is not effected however, neither is combat music. Second, I believe the problem is not mod-related, at least not directly. I went further back in my list of saves and eventually, in a save 20 game hours earlier, everything is normal and fine. This is with the exact same mods activated. Apparently something must have happened with my savegame after that which caused all the music to replaced by the outdoor music. Unfortunately I am still clueless as to what this may have been and how I can solve it. I could go back to the previous save, but in these 20 hours I accomplished so much, much of which is irreproducable. So I will continue to try to solve the issue for the time being, hopefully with your help. To be honest, I don't know even know where to start looking. It doesn't seem like it's a mod's fault, and if something was wrong with the music files the music wouldn't play in previous saves. Is there something else I am overlooking? PhilVBoost
I'm sure that I'm writing this for nothing because we're in 2015, but who knows. I have the exact same problem as you Yknuf (the exploration tracks keep playing in taverns and dungeons), except the bug reappeared ten hours after reloading an earlier save (a save where there were no problems, as I said the very same bug). I so love the music in this game and I can't think about removing it. The bug, as you said, is very immersion breaking. I've tried to reinstall all my mods, reinstall the game, type in the console addmusic and removemusic commands to no avail. No one I know can help, so I share my problem on this forum because I'm desperately trying to fix my Skyrim and because you are the only person that I found who had this problem. I wonder if there is any hope to remove this bug...
yoloftw
I'm necro-ing this topic in 2020, since I didn't find a solution for this anywhere online but accidentally solved it on Special Edition. For anyone having this problem, here's what worked for me: Switch to a Smashed Patch made with Mator Smash, instead of a Merged Patch made with xEdit. Mator Smash seems to handle conflicts between music mods and other mods that edit cells (such as lighting mods) much better than xEdit, importing a lot more music-related records to the patch.I don't know if it will work for Oldrim but see no obvious reason why it wouldn't. Simple as that. Hope it helps someone.
