I have a lot of mods for Fallout 4 enabled via NMM, but Vortex isn't detecting them

When you say "enabled via NMM", do you mean they have actually been installed via NMM?

Installed and activated via NMM, yes. Using the "Import from NMM" via Vortex leads to a never-ending loading wheel in the set-up phase.

Rule of thumb: Uninstall all mods installed by NMM or MO before using Vortex to manage that game.

You will get a never ending series of problems trying to use two mod managers on the same game.

One of the hardest to debug is when Vortex shows you all mods enabled, but mod folders are empty because Vortex picked up another manager -or you - deleting mods - and made yours match.

How many mods are we talking (number of mods and file size)?

Could you try and provide more information as is outlined here: https://forums.nexusmods.com/index.php?/topic/7332636-how-to-post-request-support-for-vortex/

With 200 mods and more, it is quite likely that it takes a while for Vortex to parse all files that need importing. That being said, it is not advised to use the importing process for that many mods in the first place. Unfortunately, NMM does not keep track of mod installations properly so with every mod added you run the risk of things going wrong and becoming a mess that you definitely do not want to import in the first place.

I would suggest to grab all the downloaded mod archives, drag and drop those into Vortex, and reinstall those instead. That way, you will have a clean setup from the get go.
