Enatiomorph
...Sky would have sold the same if it wasn't dumbed down and cut to hell. It would have, in fact, sold even more. Not sure why anybody would want or advocate less of everything, or defend the mush heads Beth marketed this game to. It isn't PC players that are in the minority, it is gamers that actually like RPGs, that RP and dont need their hand held. The minority is the Vets, who knew what was there before, and see less now. If ES types were a dime a dozen, it wouldn't matter, but they are not. Ruin it, and people that enjoyed ES for what it was and what it should be, are out a genre. I'm not really sure that those they are marketing the game to are mush heads, as you say, or simply people with jobs. And there are quite a few indy developers who are still building old school, complex RPGs (the TES games have never really been all that complex) if that's what you're looking for. Avernum comes to mind. It's not dead. Peace. People that randomly pressed buttons without reading at character creation=mush heads. People that confused sliders with a spreadsheet=mush heads. Beth's own PR. Yes, TES has been that complex, it is in fact the pinnacle of the cRPG single player RPing medium. IT is effectively and can be(even without mods) a single player Tabletop-esque RP medium. You act as if everything people want back are some new concept, the grand majority of this stuff was in vanilla Oblivion, of all games in the series. (the most criticized of the ES, next to Skyrim). Skyrim is a joke for RPing diversity compared to previous games and their expanded mechanics. snip What figures? I didnt give any figures. Lachdonin
snip What figures? I didnt give any figures. You stated that Skyrim would have sold more if it didn't have a console release. There are figures, if only implied, in that statement. Figures which have no evidence to support them, or really, any grounding in reality. The simple, undeniable fact of the matter is that Consoles drive the gaming industry. Not releasing to at least one console is cutting out a massive market. Never said anything about a PC only Skyrim. If a first gen console game (OB) can have this stuff, so can/should Skyrim.
