Khajiit Cat Eyes eye textures not working

I wanted to replace the goofy default khajiit eyes with http://oblivion.nexusmods.com/mods/2429 ;Khajiit cat eyes. I followed the instructions, have tried archive invalidation, and have the .esp checked, but for some reason all of the khajiit's eyes look like this: http://steamcommunity.com/profiles/76561198031482897/screenshot/918987149807054692

 

If it helps any, one person in the comments said;

 

"To get the new yellow/default eye to work, I had to rename the file from eyeKhajiit.dds to eyekhajiit_g.dds"

 

I tried that, but I wasn't really sure what I was doing, and it just ended up being named "eyekhajiit_g(2).dds."

 

I really really want this mod to work, but I have no idea what to do. I've tried disabling all of my cosmetic mods, but no dice. I have a feeling since people are commenting that they had to change the files a bit to get it to work, that if I was just a little bit more mod savvy, I'd be able to fix this.
