LE Readmes

Hi guys, sorry if this is the wrong place to post this, if so Mods, please feel free to move it or delete and tell me where to repost ;)

 

This isn't exactly a mod request as such, merely a request that modders name their "Readme" something other than "Readme.txt", because a number of modders leave it on the default rather than "<ModName> Readme". This is fine if I'm only installing the one mod, but there are quite a number of wonderful mods on the Nexus website that when installing them, I frequently get asked by (say) NMM if I want to overwrite "Readme.txt" for another mod, and as yet NMM doesn't have a "Rename" option at that point, which means either I do overwrite the previous Readme and lose it, or I don't and I don't get the Readme for the new mod. It's a minor problem, and I'm sure it's been mentioned before, but either way, it would be great if modders could - for future mods/updates - title their Readme after their mod rather than leave it as the default. :)

 

TL;DR - too many mods have their Readme files labelled as "Readme.txt" which means they're overwritten by the next mod, so please make a unique name.

Right on! There are a lot of ignorant incompetent modders who do this. There are probably even more modders who don't even write a readme or fail to package it with the rest of the mod. So if you are trying to play a mod and get lost or confused, you have no readme to refer to and have to hook up to the Internet and go hunting to try to find the readme online.

 

One of my other gripes is modders who give their mod download files really bland nondescript names:

Come on now! The download files on Nexus deserve better names than this! Why not name the download file after the .esp and version number? Why not name the .esp after something in the mod? Examples of good download file names:

 

Beachwear for Snowy Weather 1_0

JohnsSwords 3 0

UglyGoblin V13
