VGI
Cutting to the chase, here is my idea: Main Idea:Make a mod like the BA_Repair mod by shiholude, but only make repairs on a workbench using the vanilla items and the junk items in BA_Repair. . Additional Idea:Serious repairs will require a workbench, and field-repairs will yield a penalty in repairing. I hate the idea of your character walking around the wasteland, looking for Tin Cans to flatten with a rock...or your foot...and somehow inserting this into the item you want to repair. I honestly thought that you needed a combination of items with this kind of mod, like using the Tin Can with Wonderglue as shiholude described it quite well in the description of BA_Repair. BA_Repair by shiholude is in my opinion the best repair mod to date for the simple fact that (1) it is simple, no need for FOSE or FOMM and (2) on its own it makes the vanilla repair function of the game far more realistic, but not totally, and (3) it is the most updated repair mod to date, with functionality and compatibility all the way to the last DLC. But, having said that, in practice, BA_Repair makes repairs far too easy with Tin Cans and Bent Tin Cans. It is the first repair mod I have tried and I didn't realize that no matter what you use to repair stuff with, it will be the same percentage based on your repair skill. For example: I have a 2 Laser Rifles, a Laser Pistol, Wonderglue, and some Tin Cans. One would expect that to repair a Laser Rifle with a Laser Rifle (use the other one for spare parts), you will achieve a higher rate of repair. Heck no! I also thought that I would need to repair stuff with a combination of items. Again, Heck No! So, in practice, even if your character sucks at repairs, just give him/her enough Tin Cans and/or Bent Tin Cans and your character will be able to repair your metal-based items. 'Nuff said. So I got to thinking, that's the only thing that is bringing down the realism that BA_Repair attempts to bring into the game. But wait....! Someone named Lanternless made a BA_Repair without Tin Cans mod...this plus BA_WastelandRecyclingMachine mod... So...if I install the BA_Repair without Tin Cans, and use it with the BA_WastelandRecyclingMachine, I won't be able to use Tin Cans and Bent Tin Cans for repairs, but I can use them to make Scrap Metal, and use the Scrap Metal to repair....that would make the game more realistic because really, I doubt you can fix much by flattening a Tin Can with a rock and stuffing it in your weapon or armor or whatever. Sort of like how we recycle plastic stuff today. We turn them into plastic pellets of different densities, and these in turn are used to manufacture everything from TV casings to water-bottles and wire-insulation. Wait...crap BA_Repair without Tin Cans is NOT UPDATED. Just GRRRRRREAT! Edited August 31, 2012 by VGI
