sinnerman69
There's already a thread like this Vampire Lord or Werewolf?
Moraevik
Not quite the same, sinnerman. That topic is related specifically to Dawnguard. This one is about the base game, without Dawnguard and the option to include Dawnguard in comments. I agree that the latter is redundant and people with Dawnguard should post in the other thread about that. Me, I have never been a vampire in the game. I don't like the restrictions that come with being a vampire in ES games (at least Skyrim and Oblivion). I tolerate being a werewolf for the sake of the Companions quest-line, and usually don't cure myself. I don't actually use beast-form in the game, though. I see it primarily as a way to be immune to disease, and I can (just barely) tolerate the irritation of guards commenting about hair growing out of my ears (I'm currently experimenting with a Khajiit character over several play-throughs, so you can see the irony in that), smelling like a wet dog, and complaining about howling from Jorrvaskr. StayFrosty05
Did you choose to be a vampire, werewolf or none and why in the base game? When dawn guard was installed did you become a vampire or a hunter and why? Werewolf every time....As to the why?....Maybe I'm just too much of a girl and like the Furries...but I do know I am also something of a 'nature' nut and the idea of being part human, part awesome wolf is very appealing to me...that primal, wild, untamed feeling about the wolf is something very attractive to me....I will never play a Vampire, the whole undead thing just leaves me cold and completely un-interested. As for Dawnguard...read above.... ....Also I don't enjoy playing evil....a Werewolf can be played on any alignment, my Werewolf doesn't go around indiscriminately killing and feeding on everyone and anything...he is quite a fussy eater I guess you could say, he prefers the taste of Vampires (especially vamps... ...), Thalmor, Thieves, Assassins, Necromancers, Bandits, Silver Hands and such.... ....Where as the whole Vamp thing just comes off with an all round evil feel about it, the Vamp Castle diners and Harkons attitude was enough for me, just wanted to rid Skyrim of them pronto. AxlRocks
SNIP... Uh, well, that pretty much perfectly fits what I've done and why I did it too! lol Especially the whole primal thing. It might be surprising, but you're the only other person I've ever seen say that about why they like werewolves, I thought I was the only one haha I'm also a "good" werewolf, so to say, but when I do transform, the animalistic aspect is so great. I've personally never found vampires, or really any undead, that interesting. Regardless of the depiction, their basic characteristics just don't appeal to me for some reason. Dawnguard as well for the above reasons, but also because I'm always a heroic goodie-two-shoes, as I like to say. I'm sickenly and overtly good sometimes, heck, I'll probably adopt the whole orphanage if possible once Hearthfire comes out haha
StayFrosty05
........ but also because I'm always a heroic goodie-two-shoes, as I like to say. I'm sickenly and overtly good sometimes, heck, I'll probably adopt the whole orphanage if possible once Hearthfire comes out haha Tis much like me..... ....I can and do play my Dovahkin as relentless and remorseless, his harsh and very much a punisher....judge, jury, executioner....but never against the innocent, I RP him as the kind of man who would lay down his life to protect an innocent....but god help those who prey on the innocent, hell has no fury then....thus his favorite prey mentioned above.... ....Picks a fight with every Thalmor he see's....I consoled the essential tag off the TG members and consoled the Cistern door open, the TG no longer exist in my Skyrim, my Dovahkin cleaned up that mess.... ....Destroys Vamps on sight, etc...I guess his an extreme Ranger....He is pretty grey morality wise I guess, but he is convinced himself he is helping the common folk and keeping them safe, that's his aim. My Dovahkin would make a lousy dad....his never around... ...I feel sorry for the orphan kids, but really do think they could do better than him.... ....yes, I am a strong RP'er.....can't do evil but can do extreme perceptions....just need to give them a defined reason. NomanPeopled
Vampires. Because Necromage. The end. I find both vampires and werewolves severely lacking in lategame power compared to basically any streamlined character you can create using the non-DLC perk system. As well as more than just a little restrictive - as a human or at least humaniform character you have access to a varied choice out of a buttload of perks. As a monster, you have 11, many of which become obsolete rather quickly.Perhaps I should add though that I tend to want to do everything in a game, and even coming close to doing all (non-radiant) quests and clearing all clearable dungeons would take for-bloody-ever as either monster. For a shorter roleplaying experience, both seem fine. There's also something to be said for playing through the game without imba builds and/or gear. I did think about becoming a werewolf in order to just run through the dungeons at a terryifying pace but the lack of control over changing back in order to open doors or interact with NPCs pretty much made that moot all by itself. I also tend to use a large range of spells and powers in order to vary my game experience a bit and clawing at stuff just doesn't seem more interesting than, say, Flurry with damage-enchanted daggers. Plus, I bloody hate the forced third person view. Skyrim is beautiful and I don't want to use the console or change everytime I don't want my char to stand in the way of the view. Vampires on the other hand at least have some powers that work in first person. Plus, as I mentioned, Necromage is just a retarded perk - if this were Diablo, nobody would play non-vampires except for giggles.Plus, I dislike do-gooder Paladin-type organizations of almost any type and even my distaste for the ubiquity of vampires in pop culture wouldn't possibly let me consider armored troll followers as an alternative to biting NPCs in the neck. I'll still replay DG on their side, though. Completist talking, remember? ;) In fact, I did get a taste of playing a werewolf as part of a project to max everything on level 1 while doing as little exploring and questing as possible. (And, needless to say, without allocating perks.) Since the vamp and wolf trees are independent from the original perk system I maxed them out as well. What can I say - it's much less boring than power-leveling destruction (especially when power-levelling without zero-cost dest equipment ...). I have to say though that the Stay Pretty mod weighed in quite heavily in favor of vamps. With character creation being quite intricate (especially once you figure out how to glitch your character into Khajiit or Argonian colors) and mods changing the appearance of the character being very well-represented among the most popular, Bethesda still judged it to be the right call to destroy my character's looks if I was to play the DG storyline as a vampire. Although not by design, my character could probably be best described as an opportunist. I just do whatever I think will get me the most interesting results, powerful gear, lines I haven't heard before, etc.
StayFrosty05
@NormanPeopled....I agree the Werewolf is useless at higher levels....that's what mods are for.... ....with the Werewolf mod I use I don't even get the Dawnguard Werewolf perk tree show up in my game, not that I care in the least because I use a mod that makes the Werewolf as it should be....a kick *ss creature.... ....the vanilla werewolf is a sad shadow of what it should have been. El`derina
I played vampire/werewolf hybrid on vanilla... managed to corrupt my savegame horribly upon trying to uninstall mods to be dawnguard ready. Started a new file and new playing a vampire. Why? because I liked both to start, so i took both,.... I still like both but I feel I have exhausted all werewolf had to offer and would stick with vampire until I tried a new mod for what I originally aimed for. The corrupted file basically healed to full the instant she took damage,.. like she took the damage and it would show, but it filled near instantly. Some people asked me why that ruined the game for me and I shoulda counted my blessings... idk,.. i didnt like it. lol
Dovahkiin069
Did you choose to be a vampire, werewolf or none and why in the base game? When dawn guard was installed did you become a vampire or a hunter and why? This question is REALLY hard to me. I love vampires, but I hate to be hiding from the sun(I don't like blocking the sun), and when I play as a werewolf char, I never use beast form. But thanks to StayFrosty05, I have found the "Werewolf Enhancer" mod, and I've been thinking, maybe it would be better to play as a Werewolf in the main save, but continue to use a save with a Vamp char. So my reply to your question is: Werewolf, thanks to StayFrosty.
