kili202 Posted September 1, 2012 Share Posted September 1, 2012 whenever i cast a spell such as flames or something that works like it, the target takes damage but there are no flames or lightning or something coming out of my hand. the spell works and does not cause any issues but it is a nice little effect that i miss seeing. bolt spells such as fireball or ice spike work fine. IE you've got to pull out some eyecandy1)ENB2)VertleSInc ON3)Shadows set to High or Ultra...There are nice tweaks out there for great shadows set at Medium with minimal FPS loss.4)Your Texture's are set to high or/and you've got textures above 1024 res5)Your SkyrimPrefs.ini is borked A) check how much you've altered this settings mattera)Many mods offer bad advice because it makes their mod look good but doesn't consider that you've made changes for yet again other mods.b)Each little change adds upB) You should check this lineiMaxDesired=750 <---This determines FX for spells, torches, fog, fires, all sorts of stuff like that750 is the default 0 would litterly mean no or next to none for FX If its not iMaxDesired=750 or iMaxDesired=0 Then yes your GPU has hit its limitations.Time to tone down eye candy.Why?Becuase next you'll start to have crashes becuase your game is not optimised to run smoothly. You need a FPS counter like fraps to help you determine your setups best optimisation.Nvidea recaamends 45 FPS under stress conditions. I'd say best conditions at 45FPS is your near water fighting several dragons and in foggy weather conditions your FPS drops to 45 under these conditions without loss of eyecandy then you are good to go. kili202 Posted September 2, 2012 Author Share Posted September 2, 2012 (edited) yeah, my comptuer is not exactly high end... i am wary of the advice mods give and the only change i have made to my ini is removing the map borders so i can enjoy mods that are outside the map but other than that i have not touched it. i don't generally use eyecandy mods as i do not care much for visual quality as opposed to getting more fun out of the game. i have optimised the game settings to squeeze out the most fps i can, i guess my pc is just not powerful enough anymore. time for an upgrade i think.thanks for the detailed response btw :happy: p.s just checked, ya my imaxdesired is set to 750 Edited September 2, 2012 by kili202 Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
