markisgreat
it would be good if there were an "easy" to use mod/tool that would allow you to play multiplayer over lan but no such thing exist
Cynster
Yeah the only one I know of I gave up on because of how glitchy and complicated it was.
Blackguard666
You'd have to have strict rules, couldnt show off your new modded armor or weapon, or landmass, imagine you have a bridge but the other person didnt have one, how would that look when you both try to cross the river, now multiply the complexity by alot, the game world is huge, potentially infinite.Too complicated, my computer cries out now during Battles, never mind playing over the internet, it would be serious lag..... Not only that, two other things; is 1) the game would almost have to be re-created for online play. 2) then you have issues with people using uber items and the whole kiddie issue. I used to play WoW, and I got cussed out by one too many kids. Online play used to be cool. Hang out in the game with friends YOUR age and maturity level, no monthly fee, etc. Now, online gaming is just HELL. It's aweful.....most of the "people" who play are just idiots who need attention. I just hope this does not befall to Oblivion, I like actually liking a game. :wallbash:

Thankfully even installing such a thing is often beyond their... capacity.

I still play WoW usually on RP servers, right now I have a really nice guild on Moon Guard, what was once the RP bastion of WoW. However now it's overpopulated and you wind up with little kids whining and moaning a lot. TES should never, ever be an MMO if you ask me, at the same time I would kindly ask if Bethesda quits catering to the console gamers with TES games. TES games have for me always been immersive single player roleplaying games. I started playing Daggerfall when I was 14! That was wow, roughly 12 years ago! I played it way more than my brother who got the game to begin with. And I fell in love. Vanilla Morrowind in comparison felt watered down, but mods made up for that quite a bit. Vanilla Oblivion really isn't that great of a game in my opinion, but modders god bless you modders, breathed life into it making it worth playing and much more immersive than the Vanilla version. I have yet to play a game that totally immersed me the way Daggerfall did ages ago. But I really, really hope the next TES game looks back at it's older games and takes some pointers. It seems TES games are getting more and more watered down and bland compared to old Daggerfall. What saves them for me is mods. If you ask me they should hire a bunch of great modders and go back to their roots, but of course such a game would only appeal to a small audience. I wouldn't be at all surprised if the next TES game had online features to appease the WoW kiddies to make a buck, considering Betheseda's overall shift over time. Vanilla Oblivion would be kind of meh... But modders make it worth playing. Morrowind on it's own was pretty good, but seemed a bit watered down compared to its predecessor Daggerfall, still it held it's own and modders made it downright addictive for me. I'm really worried about the future TES games, as they seem to be losing their edge. Compare Vanilla Oblivion, to Vanilla Morrowind, and Morrowind is far superior. Then go back further to Daggerfall, it just seems they are out to make a buck on the younger, and larger player base as opposed to delivering quality these days. Vanilla Oblivion is kinda cool at first but it's a one shot deal. Once you play it, it's like meh I'm done. Modders keep the replay value of the game in check. Maybe I'm a little biased as Daggerfall kinda got me into video games all together. But still, it seems the really good modders out there know what makes a good roleplaying game much better than Bethesda. I'm really scared about the next TES game. I wouldn't be surprised if Bethesda collectively insulted the modding community by not including a CS, and making it sort of an MMO. ughhh...
