Nimarus
I've been playing on my Desktop PC for some time now. However, I recently purchased a gaming laptop to enjoy some of my gaming on the go. In my area, it's not uncommon for large storms and/or snow to knock out the electricity. When this happens, I usually drive a few miles down to my parent's house as they have a large natural gas generator that powers their entire house during outages. Naturally, hauling my heavy computer is a bit of a chore, so I got a decent gaming laptop. My question is, can Vortex copy mods from my desktop to my laptop on it's own via some feature? Or will I have to just take a note of which mods I have on PC and install them manually on my laptop?
Guest deleted34304850
you could, i think, put your download folder on a shared drive that you can see from both your laptop and your desktop because the download folder just contains the mods you've downloaded from wherever.the download folder doesn't need to be on the same drive as your game - so you could have your games installed in a directory on your laptop and a directory on your desktop - and you would have vortex installed on both machines. as long as you didn't do something silly like try to use both versions of vortex at the same time you should be good to use it to download to your download folder and then install locally on each device.having said that, never tried it - but i did move all my downloads to a shared directory when i got a new device, and simply pulled them from the shared folder to my new machine without issue. rmm200
If it were me:I would copy my Vortex Downloads directory to a flash drive. You can directly drag files from the flash drive to your Laptop Mods Drop Here area.Downloads contains mod archives (zip, rar, etc) and Vortex never modifies them. They are Mod Manager input, as it were.
kamikatze13
make sure to also backup/transfer/keep-up-to-date your VO configuration database from %appdata%, else you would need to do every change twice. again a use-case where a standalone application would've been useful.
