JJaANF
Hello all !!! I tried to make a custom race on my own, nothing fancy, mind you... I followed directions from Creating a Playable Race - Revised (https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/59220) and all was well, but then I tried to give it a new head and... Patatras !!! Extra sliders disappeared, no way to give my beloved char' the pointy ears I intented to... Weird thing is I only changed the female head, but the male part of the race is also affected... Any Ideas ??? https://drive.google.com/open?id=1W0ST_qG1MznzVPTjdgm2-jMqd_aCj-ih

l1ft0ff
Apologies for necro'ing a 4-year-old thread, but I was having this exact issue and this "races.ini" and "sliders folder" turned out to be the fix. However, this thread didn't explain what they are or what's about them, and it turns out I couldn't find any explanation of them anywhere at all so I had to figure it out myself by comparing to a working example of a custom race mod that uses a custom head mesh/chargen sliders. So, I'm describing my findings here for posterity, in the hopes of saving a lot of trouble and anguish for anyone that follows in JJaANF and my footsteps and gets whisked here by a desperate google search. In meshes\actors\character\facegenmorphs, there is supposed to be a folder whose name is identical to the name of your custom race's plugin. So, for example, for a custom race mod with a plugin named FeyRace.esp, you'd need a folder with the name/location of meshes\actors\character\facegenmorphs\FeyRace.esp\, I assume it's not case-sensitive since skyrim was made for Windows which doesn't have case-sensitive folder directories, but best not to risk it imo.In this folder is where the "sliders" folder and races.ini go. Since this issue is that you've had the extra sliders that come base with RaceMenu disappear, you just need to copy the contents of the sliders folder form the original RaceMenu mod. To do that, you'll want to extract the RaceMenu.bsa file, look for meshes\actors\character\facegenmorphs\racemenu.esp\sliders\, where you should find a file named human.ini. Copy this (or beast.ini if your custom race's custom head is based on a beast race's head) into the "sliders" folder you created for the folder you made for your custom race's plugin folder in the facegenmorphs folder. Now, the races.ini file. That file also appears in the extracted contents of the Racemenu BSA, right beside (not inside, but beside it) the sliders folder. just copy that to your race's facegenmorphs folder, then open it up and study its contents to see what you need to replace them with. It should look something like the following:[YourRaceName] = sliders\human.ini[YourRaceNameVampire] = sliders\human.iniwhere [YourRaceName] is the name of the RACE form for your race inside it's plugin file. Again, substitute 'human.ini' for 'beast.ini' if applicable.Hope all that helps anyone.
