darkdill
Since this sort of thing happened when the Mounted Combat patches were released, I am curious as to whether or not this kind of thing might occur when Hearthfire is released. If so, I plan to wait a bit more before starting Skyrim up again, so the animation modders can fix the bugs. Dan3345
Considering theres only a handful of mods that actually change animations in a drastically important way I would say its not a big deal at all. Also Dawnguard adds tons of new animations and it didn't break any of my mods.. But then again I don't use any of the sex mods or whatever you want to call them. fore
When animation mods "break" the game, it's not because of the animation being added, but behavior files beeing changed to support these animations. And since behavior fiels are "unmoddable" it takes a little bit until modders (and I'm probably one of the most concerned ones) can implement their behavior changes into the new version. And unfortunately, most users forget that animation mod (better: mods that change behavior files) get incompatible with Skyrim versions with updated behavior files. The last time this happened was Skyrim 1.6. 1.6 was already made in preparation of DG, because all animations which were added for DG, do already appear in the 1.6 update. Dawnguard and Skyrim 1.7 did not change any behaviors. But again unfortunately, DG was released by Bethesda with a lot of errors, including animation errors (e.g. the Serena bug). But they don't have anything to to with animation mods. I think that Hearthfire will be prepared by a preceding Skyrim release. And by the time Hearthfire is out, all serious animation/behavior mods will be adapted to the new DLC.
