Fatalmasterpiece Posted September 4, 2012 Posted September 4, 2012 The more I play Skyrim the more it reminds me of the issues with Oblivion. Everything is custom tailored to your level and now instead of fighting lvl 30 bandits in Glass armor at lvl 30, we just fight bandits with scaling stats... It is also completely immersion breaking how the stores are somehow magically updated with to suit your current level in what they sell. Oh, your level 30? Better break out the glass armor to sell to you... So, are there any mods out there that currently remove this hand holding and give us a more dynamic world?
David Brasher Posted September 4, 2012 Posted September 4, 2012 There are a number of mods set up to remove the level scaling. Here is one of them that comes to mind: Skyrim Scaling Stopper.
Fatalmasterpiece Posted September 4, 2012 Author Posted September 4, 2012 Thanks, that mod sounds right up my ally, unfortunately I don't have Dawnguard yet so won't be able to use it. :( Edit: Lol, I noticed it is your own mod? Then we share the same opinion of how the game should be! Wish money wasn't so tight right now or I would get the expansion...
David Brasher Posted September 4, 2012 Posted September 4, 2012 Skyrim Scaling Stopper comes in a large number of versions with varying ages and features. Version 1_8_3 is the current non-Dawnguard version.
Fatalmasterpiece Posted September 6, 2012 Author Posted September 6, 2012 That's great, I noticed when installing from NMM it only has one file to activate regardless of version. Does it know only to use 1_8_3 instead of 5xx or should I just install manually and read the directions closer?
Moraevik Posted September 6, 2012 Posted September 6, 2012 Read the instructions -- CAREFULLY! The author even warns against using NMM to install this mod, and the instructions are quite complex, but also very explicit and specific. And before you ask, no. I've never installed this mod, but when I read about it in this thread it immediately caught my attention -- until I discovered it required Dawnguard for the latest version. I'm going to look into the earlier (1.8.3) version. Be warned, though, that this mod edits leveled lists and will conflict with other mods which alter those lists. I'd suggest reading the discussion topic thoroughly to see if there are any conflicts that might affect your particular set-up.
XdamageincX Posted September 6, 2012 Posted September 6, 2012 (edited) There is another mod that may be what you are looking for. It is what my next playthrough is going to use. If you have many other mods it may not be compatible. The mod is called Requiem and one of the many features is that it completely removes level dependence to create a static environment. http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/19281 Edited September 6, 2012 by XdamageincX
ragnaroklucifer Posted August 4, 2013 Posted August 4, 2013 Not trying to dig a thread but I'd just like to provide some information. My TES5edit script create encounter zones for all area. So by setting a fixed min and max level for those encounter zones, you can stop level scaling completely. You can assign levels to them randomly by using WTF - Random Encounter Zones by T3nd0.
