OK. Here is the location on my computer for all of my games: C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\ (the folder after "common" is the different folder for each game.

here are pics of my download and mod settings.

Thanks again for your help.

Everything looks good on your screenshots.

Do click the Fix button in the upper right. All that does is adjust BSA timestamps. The latest Skyrim SE updated the BSAs. That normally does not happen.

Make sure your Mods directory exists (allocate it) and maybe click Apply again. Vortex should accept it...

Looking at your screenshot the reason "Apply" is greyed out because hardlink deployment is already applied - i.e. everything is in order.

Which video(s) were you watching? The ones integrated into Vortex?

When you say "NMM did everything for you" - it's not like you have to set your downloads and mod staging folder - they will default to sensible locations.

I have followed the directions in the video. I have an SSD that is brand new and formatted. I placed the game on there, and nothing else. Then, I went to Vortex and had created a Modding Utility folder, not in the game folder but on the same drive. Vortex is telling me that the game is not on that drive and won't allow me to download any mods because of it. Vortex has the game and is managing it and it shows the path and drive location correctly. What do I do now?

At this point it would help if you tell us the exact path to your game and if you installed it using Steam. Registry needs to match the actual location.

A screenshot of Vortex Settings / Mods would be great.

Also is there anything funny about your new SSD? NTFS? Supports Hardlinks?
