I can't seem to figure this out. All I could find is this modders resource and even with that im unable to do anything. Apparently its supposed to be an "easier" way to do it but I cant even get past step one. Of course you could always use the commands in the game but that's lame and you cant dismiss any npc you set as a follower.

Depends on what you want. Imo, its not that hard to make a simple follower (aka. a companion with only the default commands like recruit, dismiss, trade, wait). On the other hand, a companion like the vanilla ones, or companions that going even beyond that, are a other topic.

That was vague. What I mean is there are zero objects in the menus I need like for voice type. When I click on the voice type tab the entire menu is just empty. The same goes for every category in the whole menu. He doesn't explain what to do to get all the objects

also regarding the creation kit, every time I load up any project, any file, I get over 22 warnings. The problem is the warnings mean nothing to me since they list a bunch of crap like file locations

I'm dieing here innerly thanks to the heat from the outsite, so I will keep it short.

-Sometimes the windows in the ck are so big, that you can't click on something. Try to press then ok with your keyboard instead with your mouse.

-Warnings in the ck are usually to ignore, if they are not coming from your mod. That means, click on cancel until it ends.

-You should at least load the fallout 4.esm. She contains all the stuff you need for a simple follower, like you see in the video.

-Load the .esm. Save then and make a new esp. Close the ck then and start the ck again. This time with your new .esp as active file.

There is a much easier way to do this: Find an NPC, or spawn one in. Use Amazing Follower Tweaks to force recruit them. They are added to your PlayerFaction meaning they will now see you as a trusted friend. They respond to your AFT commands to trade items, etc.
