ApplesTheHero
Hi, I'm trying to make some custom armors and clothes from a mod compatible with a custom race mod, and some of them require some remodelling to fit this custom race (which is being done fairly easily in outfit studio). Using creation kit, I've made the ArmorAddon for the custom race, and added it to the armor (the way that the vanilla armors have been modified to fit the custom race), and when I load it up in the preview on the race, it all works perfectly, but when I save the .esp and load it in Skyrim, the game still wasn't finding the model for the custom race, so the armor was invisible! Loading everything back up in creation kit, I found out that, instead of modifying the existing armor set, it for some reason saw the modified version (note that the IDs and stuff hadn't been modified) as a duplicate of the original and automatically appended it with DUPLICATE001, leaving the original armor from the mod intact, and thus without the model for the custom race! How can I get creation kit to actually modify the existing armor instead a duplicate? tl;dr modifying custom armor to work with custom race, creation kit turns the modified armor into a duplicate file, but I want it to actually modify the armor. (I did only just start using creation kit today, so I might have just missed something obvious - but don't just point me to some 40 page guide on using creation kit! I can find those myself, thank you!)
Hoosmhasm
I'm just as new as you, so this might not even work, but could you just duplicate the armor, then do what you wanted with the duplicate and make it part of a skin for that race? This may not be the effect you're going for but it might cause less issues than modifying the original item and would let you create multiple skins for these race members to have. I get that you wouldn't be able to give them new types of armor seeing that they have specific dimensions, but its all I can add with my very limited knowledge. Hope it gives you ideas at least! ApplesTheHero
Well, yeah, duplicating is what already happens, and I could figure out how to make sure the vendors have the duplicated version, but that's a very crude fix to the problem where I know a better solution exists (there's already a patch to make a different mod work with this race). I've tried editing the .esp for the modded armor, but I must have messed something up as it still just made a duplicate.
