xguzman30
Hellp everyone. The reason I opening up this topic is because I am looking for some professional help in dissecting a matter which I am having much trouble with. I have gone through several tutorials using gimp to remove a texture from a dds file in Skyrim. Everything that I have watched still seems vague in explanation. I am very certain that someone here can help me get this going in as little as 5 minutes. I am trying to remove the sleeves from the thalmor female outfit and the pants using Gimp. I have made some successful attempts, but it seems that in game I can see the ful texture of the Thalmor outfit except the sleeves and the pants which are painted black as if it is missing the texture which I believe means that that is where it should be transparent. I believe that I am doing something wrong with the procedure and I am in need of your help. I'll take any help i can get and you will surely get all the credit for it. Here is the procedure I have done. I open thalmorrobesf.dds Load Mipmaps I hit "yes"hit mask -> add layer mask Then select "Transfer layers Alpha channel"Then (Using the Eraser) I remove what I would like to have transparent in the game. Once I am done, I flatten the image. Go to file, Export as DDS file.Used Compression BC1/DXT1Mipmaps "Generate Mipmaps"I go ingame but the pants are black as if it is missing a texture. I have gone through countless vidoes, but I am still having a hard time grasping the topic. THere are'nt any videos on how to remove pants or sleeves and separate from an object. I am usually very good at following instructions but it seems I have met my match. Here is the weird part. I downloaded a saviors hide retexture which has a pocket purse. I did not like the pocket purse so using only gimp, I erased the purse using "Eraser Tool" and saved went in game and voila the texture was transparent without any modification to any mesh which I did not have for this particular mod. However when I tried the same with what I wanted to implement, I shows up black ingame. What am I misssing? When I open that saviors hide mod under gimp, on the top window, it shows as 1.0 (RGB color, 1 layer)2048x2048When I open my mod it shows up as 2.0 (RGB, 12 Layers) 2048x 2048 If you can help me to get one part of my thalmor outfit transparent in a detailed structure I will be truly thankful
RitualBlack
If I recall there needed to be something done with the model in nifskope if you are making armor transparent. I am fairly sure this tutorial went into very thorough detail about it:Deadly Serious Tutorial
xguzman30
If I recall there needed to be something done with the model in nifskope if you are making armor transparent. I am fairly sure this tutorial went into very thorough detail about it:Deadly Serious Tutorial Yes I downloaded the pdf, I followed the instructions to the tee but when I went in game, my whole out fit was black and and not tranparent. The intructions were very clear but I think that it has more to do with how did the process in gimp which is were I need help. I used a mod that I downloaded which I stated in my topic and I was able to make the purse texture transparent without any mesh editing. The guy from deadly serious tutorial said there is a way to check it the textures is masked using photoshop which give out a red color, but how do I go about doing that. xguzman30
You could either watch or have a look atthis post Thank you for your response Perraine. I think this might do it. However when I open up the texture using gimp and load mipmaps. I then scroll to layer -> Transparency-> remove layer -> CTRL A (I can see the dashes circulating the picture)I then go the edit and paste as layer, but for the life of me now it save that "There is no image data in the clipboard to save??? I tried converting to gimp image and I still get the same thing. I am running windows 7 64 bit. The the program downloaded into program file not (x86). I hit printscreen prior to adding as layer and then it accpeted it. But how do i access the clipboard? or should I just add layer through the menu bar?
