charwo
I need to ask questions about cap and barter mods. Now every time I have played Fallout 3, like most games I end up with more money than I know what to do with them. In a plot story, this is fine. But I want to roleplay! My LW and her fraternal twin (I'm sorta kinda playing both) being stuck at the end of Scientific Pursuits due to the plot hole of not knowing exactly where Vault 112 is from dear old Dad's descriptions (again, roleplay, not follow the quest marker). So, with help from a few mods, they have formed a Salvaging Company. It's completely lore friendly and they're making a killing! She and her brother kill everything hostile in sight, then she directs their crew to finding nifty variables, and then her brother repairs and refurbishes all of it and finds buyers for the guns, the books and the meat they take from everything they kill, human flesh, supermutant flesh, Yoa Gui flesh, molerat flesh. There are two problems though: without console commands, the vendors lack the funds to take all of this stuff in, sometimes by orders of magnitude. Also, my LW is sitting on a mountain of hundreds of thousands of caps and there's nothing to do but store them inside RL-3. I wanna do something with all that money! Do good and change the wasteland by doing something other than killing raiders all day! And that's why I really, really like the Economics of Violence and Merchant Empire subquests and why having restarted, I like the AAT phone business mod. I love mods where my LW can make the Wasteland a better place through non-violent means, and in ways that actually show up on screen. I'd be more inclined to giving money to Father Clifford if when i gave enough, there'd be some kind of soup kitchen for wastelanders on the dock by Rivet City, or finding a way to clear the Rivet City lower decks of Mirelurks for good or rebuild the Mirelurk farm the dead traders had going inside the Anchorage Memorial or refurbishing trucks, repaving roads, opening up a safe trade route from Rivet City to Underworld, fix the Capital, fully restore the Washington Monument, refurbish the foundry at Evergreen Mills, build a public School, outfit a working library, sell disabled robots to Tinker Joe, refurbish a failed Vault to make it a safe settlement for a group of refugees You see what I mean? I don't need a mod that connects all of this together in and of itself, though that's nice, but ones from which I build a story and by console command reduce the cap count. For instance, I complete Head of State by helping Hannibal, console command out 100,000 caps, go to Point Lookout. Then I download a Lincoln Memorial restored mod, and when I come back a couple of months later, my LW can think 'Wow, Caleb sure did a great job fixing the Memorial with all the money I gave them. I now need to clear out the Mall and make another 100,000 caps so he and his crew can fix the Washington Monument!' And when I've met that requirement, I console out another 100,000 caps and download a Washington Monument restored mod. Anything that might suit my designs here?
