CaptainCookie
Well, I can't code worth a damn, and the Construction kit has this odd grudge against me, So if someone would be willing to do this, I'd be indebted to them. Adventuring might be a good source of income, but it's risky. You never know where a limb might be in a dark cavern. So, There must be a safer way? What I'm proposing is, NPCs can start businesses, So why not us? If it's possible, The game will make a random NPC with a certain desire for an object. It might be a collared shirt, or an enchanted Ebony sword (Not really though). However it should be in your range of making. The basic types of shops should be Food/Services (Inn)Weaponry/Armor (Blacksmith)Sliversmith (Creates things like sliver glasses and carafes)Furniture (You sell small slips of paper.)A sale would work like this An NPC walks into the door, and goes up to you. He starts a conversation.A new topic called "Wares"When you talk, he/she describes what they want (Like "I would like a nice sword/hammer/ax." or "I would like a bowl" The quality of the item, metal to sliver or Iron to Steel, will determine how much they pay, and your fame will go up if they were pleased with your service, and the more fame you have, the more people will come to your shop.To get shipments of food or something like that, you need to go to the Imperial Trade Office, and purchase a shipment of said item. For furniture, sliversmithing, and blacksmithing, you would need to purchase materials, and create your items. Once you create the items, it will go into your Supply Cabinet. You can purchase upgrades to your shop in the Imperial Trade office. (It doesn't matter what city your in, you still have to go to the Imperial Trade office) The supplies and material will be delivered to your shop in a day or two, so order when you get close to low. To start a day, you would go to a ledger, and activate it. It will ask you if you wish to start the day. You do the same to end the day. If you close early, or open late, it lowers your fame. If you completely forget your shop, you could lose all your fame. You can sell your shop, and it will stop the fame drop. (Your fame won't drop if it's over 50). A shop will cost at least 10,000 gold. (7,500 for the building, 2,000 for furnishings and supplys and 500 to fall back on. NPCs WILL offer to sell things, you can decline, but that makes them angry. If you anger a customer enough they might even attack you. I think I covered it. I'm sorry if it seems like I was just rambling on, I typed this up on the moment. Now, I think, It's time for me to take my leave, and go kill some Trolls.. Also sidenote: Am I the only one who hates Imps with a passion?
Xersize
For the record, I also really hate Imps. Always getting in the way, throwing their silly magic at me and making annoing sounds :( Anyways, about you'r idea: I really love it (almost with as much passion as I hate Imps ;)) and I would also want to see this done :D
Cynster
Sounds cool. You know, there's craftybits out there where you could kind of roleplay a business, but you'd be an independant seller to shop owners. xD
lolassassin101
This is one of another great mods (if it were to be made) I am no modder myself, but yes imps and anything that has more range then my axe, I hate. I like the idea of fame going up and down due to the shop, yet if you gained, say 10 fame I dont think you should loose it due to your shop also if farmers/farm hands were added to your list it would increase the variety of the jobs meaning that you dont have to be another door in a street or another man in an alley (like the skooma dealer in bravil)
