CannedMonkey
I got out of PC gaming a few years ago when my computer died and i never fixed it, and so I have no experience with the idea of DLC content. My question is this, if i buy it online, is it possible to burn it to a cd or dvd once I have it to have a hard copy? Also, what happens if my download doesn't work and cuts off in the middle? I have been thinking about buying a new computer and getting skyrim to try. Thanks!
bben46
Skyrim is a steam exclusive - that means you download from steam - even if you have a DVD, you MUST go through steam to complete installing the game and to run it. After it is set up, THEN you can set steam to off line mode if you want to. As steam likes to patch with no warning this may be a good idea as a patch can break your game if you use mods. Once steam has a record that you have purchased the game - either the on line Steam version or the DVD, (both exactly the same) then you can always download it again FREE from steam. If the download fails, just download again. DLC (Down Loadable Content)is usually defined as the add on stuff that you can get from the game maker after you have the game. Mods are FREE content made by people other than the game maker and are often comparable to the DLCs. They are downloaded from Steam. For Skyrim, We have had 1 FREE DLC and 1 pay DLC for PC, A new pay DLC was just released for Xbox, it will be available through steam for PC in about a month. Game patches (bug fixes and game updates) are free through steam. One of the patches actually included some new content so it might be considered a second FREE DLC.
