Fireza122
I am very new to modding. I have version 0.18.12 of Vortex on a Windows 10, x64 system. I have two separate drives; SSD for the OS and HD with Steam and Vortex downloaded. I am trying to mod Dark Souls Prepare to Die. Six mods are downloaded, installed and enabled. None of the mods appear in the game. They are cosmetic re-skins of weapons and ,of course, DSFix in its newest version. I look through the forums and tutorials only to find the Pluggins tab is missing in Vortex. I assume checking that tab will tell me if the mods are actually working. BigBizkit
Dark Souls does not have plugins. Plugins are specific to Bethesda games such as Skyrim and Fallout. Therefore, there is no plugins tab for Dark Souls. Are you positive you are modding the Prepare to Die Edition and not the remaster?
Fireza122
Absolutely. I purchased it back in 2016 through Steam. Could the pathing and/or directories be the issue? Vortex has the option to open specific folders. Open Mod Staging Folder- D:\Stuff\New folderOpen Game Folder- D:\Stuff\steamapps\common\Dark Souls Prepare to Die EditionOpen Game Mods Folder- D:\Stuff\steamapps\common\Dark Souls Prepare to Die Edition\DATA\dsfix\tex_override D:\ is the Hard drive both steam and Vortex are downloaded in. BigBizkit
I'll have to test it myself but assuming one of the mods you are trying to use is this (judging by your download history): https://www.nexusmods.com/darksouls/mods/187?tab=files The way that mod is packed is that the different options come in different folders i.e. all the gold files will be in a "gold" folder and so on. The idea is that you need to extract the files you want, from the folder you want into your tex_override folder for the mod to work. I would assume Vortex just places all folders at once in the tex_override folder, meaning none of them will be active. The mod would need to be packed differently for it to properly install with Vortex, it seems. edit: Yeah, after testing it I can confirm it's exactly what is happening. Vortex will put the entire "DSM01_EbonyLion_Ornstein_MOD.rar" folder (that is what they named the mod folder) into tex_override. For the mod to work, you want to extract the contents of either of the EO_Gold, EO_Platinum, or EO_Silver folders into tex_override manually. The mod would have to be repacked in order to work with Vortex, but the good news is it could make use of a mod installer as well: https://wiki.nexusmods.com/index.php/How_to_create_mod_installers I might write one for it later. BigBizkit
I wrote a mod installer for that mod (Ornstein armour retexture) that one works fine with Vortex and you'll be able to pick the option you want (look in the optional files): https://www.nexusmods.com/darksouls/mods/187?tab=files
