BigBizkit
I mean, you could go to your downloads folder and copy paste the mod archives to a different destination if you really wanted to.
PedgeJ
Would that work for restoring? Sometimes mods just go poof and they are hard to find by other means. And thanks for the reply.

Rattledagger
Where's basically 2 ways to backup: 1: Backup the download-archives.2: Backup downloads + mods + %appdata%\vortex Advantage with 1 is, you have a backup of the mod-archives, meaning even if the mod is permanently removed (something that happens more or less frequently), you can always re-install the mod. Disadvantage with 1 is, you'll need to re-install the mods (this is really a fast process, except for FOMOD or other kinds of installers) and you'll need to re-create all conflict-rules. Especially the conflict-rules can take some time. Advantage with 2 is, since you've backed-up everything, all rules etc. can be restored and just hit Deploy and you'll be up and playing the game again. Disadvantage with 2 is, the backup is much larger than only backing-up the downloads. Also any changes to conflict-rules etc. after last backup must be re-created. stuartnorey
I'm actually looking to reinstall mods from an external backup of the downloaded zip files and this is helpful, my only question is will Vortex recognise and 'link' them to Nexus automatically for the purposes of checking for updates? I don't know if the link/url sits in the mod file or is created when they are initially downloaded?
