Germ1 Posted September 12, 2012 Posted September 12, 2012 I wouldn't play this instead of skyrim, looks boring and outdated.
Guest deleted2172440 Posted September 12, 2012 Posted September 12, 2012 i'm really looking forward to this :) Imagine mods!
Reducer Posted September 12, 2012 Posted September 12, 2012 (edited) Dungeon Master, Eye of the Beholder, Lands of Lore. True gems indeed. Grimrock captures their playstyle, look and feel quite accurately, with a perfect touch of what technology can do to improve them nowadays. I agree sidney666, Mandate of Heaven was very good, but it was a more technologically evolved implementation of the game concept. Grimrock plays more like the ones above. BTW my all time favorite game is Anachronox, followed by Elvira II. Edited September 15, 2012 by Reducer
Syncing Posted September 12, 2012 Posted September 12, 2012 Great. I'm happy for Almost Human, a big success for a small game like this one. I loved playing it, something different from the mainstream but still good looking, the game makes you think and it's not easy towards the end. And from what I can see, the editor will be a success too. Can't wait.
cdsparey1 Posted September 12, 2012 Posted September 12, 2012 Germ1 Well i understand where you are coming from. But you should look at some videos on you tube about it. You may find something you like.
nexusasd Posted September 12, 2012 Posted September 12, 2012 The graphics of grimrock ruined the game for me. There is no point in making a game with that play style have "modern" graphics. I play older games like it and feel that the older graphics are significantly more suiting and immersive because it's a mind trip, it leaves your adventures more to your imagination instead of trying to very immersion-breaking-ly portray what is happening with realistic graphics. The realistic graphics break the play style for me, because there games are supposed to be represented by a GUI not have the GUI is one of the selling points for the game. Having modern graphics + old school tactics = gameplay that feels lacking in realism for people who like graphics and gameplay that is lacking in imagination for people who like the play style of the old school games.
mayatola Posted September 12, 2012 Posted September 12, 2012 Awesome! I was wondering when they'd release the tools, but after a couple months I stopped checking. Great news indeed!
BrotherWind Posted September 12, 2012 Posted September 12, 2012 Interested to see this grow, though I'm not gonna lie; when I saw the header for this nexus I thought it said Legends of Grimlock. Been playing too much Transformers lately.
