Occasional CTDs - normal?

I didn't even know Deadly reflexes causes crashes o_O

Crashes are the least of the problems it causes. I've counted numerous complete shutdowns of Oblivion solely due to this mod. What does this mean exactly? means you will definitely have to reinstall everything and most times completely clean reboot your entire PC. Doesn't seem worth it does it?

Proper way to install Deadly Reflex:

1- DL the mod

2-Place it in your data folder without unzipping

3-go to your data folder and click on the Deadly Reflex file

4-right click and select "delete"

5-go to your recycle bin and open

6-select empty recycle bin

7-when asked to confirm, select yes

Anyone who reads this has just been saved 2 weeks of frustration and banging your head into a wall.

LOL, nice post, I've always wanted to install DR but have avoided it like the plague due to the numerous problems it causes, glad to know there is an alternative. Also do you have a DL link for low poly trees? I can't find it.

Thanks

Shadowcran, could you be so kind and point me to a working downloadlink for streamline 3.0? I seem to be too daft to find it. OBSE homepage has just 3.1beta whereas Nexus jumps from 3.0beta4 to 3.1. Same with the only survivng thread at the official forums. Or is there no 3.0 final and I should grab 3.0beta4? Also... well... any downgrading issues you are aware of? And before you ask... yes, some oddities with 3.1 already.

Geez, I'm sorry about that. For some unknown reason Low Poly Trees is hard to find. Let me see if I can get that link....

Streamline 3.0 you can get here on Nexus. It's in the same page as the 3.1, just get the 3.0 instead.

There are others that also help with performance.

@Shadowcran:

Hmmm... I really know how you feel for DR. But IMO you could just keep that hate of the mod to yourself. I don't think it's necessary to tell others how negative the mod is. Why not let the people experience DR, let them have their say and if they don't like it, then discuss it with them. :)

Anyway, the CTD issues are also due to the game engine itself. I myself have CTD issues, but they don't bog me down much as long as I'm having fun.

In this thread: people boasting about their computers' specs.

WTF is that for????

In order to provide detailed help, details must be provided, it's a very simple concept.

Most of the people providing "details" are not the ones asking for help. Stop trolling.

LMAO, so your solution to a buggy mod's problems is to let others experience the hell for themselves rather than warn them? That's really sadistic. Ok..It's time to play "SPOT THE SARCASM"

By all means, use Deadly Reflex. The crashes and shutdowns you experience are only part of the fun! If you are a masochist and want a crash to desktop mod, this is your best bet! Ignore all my advice and instead rely on those whose advice is to "buy a better PC". I know you have to be a recluse millionaire in disguise so just cash in one of those stocks and buy a new computer!! Then download Deadly Reflex and who knows? It might just work 10% of the time!! WOn't that make the whole purchase necessary?

While you're at it, feel free to go to the Deadly Reflex comments section and rate it a 10 so that others experience the fun for themselves! Who cares about wrecking your new computer(You're a recluse millionaire after all) when you might, just might, behead a pixel opponent. Don't even consider Adrenaline Locational. Sure it does the same things and more as Deadly Reflex without all the bugs, shutdowns and crashes but it isn't ranked!!! Rely on what children under 12 have decided is the most popular instead!! They can't be wrong, can they?

Also, even if your computer can't handle it, DL all kinds of resource eating mods. Yes, your game will only run for about 5 seconds at a time, but it will LOOK GOOD for those 5 seconds and isn't that more important than playing?

Whatever you do DON'T rate a mod low as that might cause others not to download it. They must experience the bugs for themselves. It's a learning experience for all.

Yes, I simply love being chastised when I try and help others. It's what makes the whole process worthwhile.

I think I'll just stop helping others and instead I'll just post my computer's specs instead from now on.
