You run on XP? Then consider yourself lucky. DO NOT GET VISTA!! It seems to hate Oblivion or anything that's fun to play with a passion. How do I run Oblivion with it you may ask? I changed the compatibility for my computer to run Oblivion with XP.

I'm currently running 1, 123 different mods. How, you ask knowing the limit is 255? Easy, I've merged a ton of esp's with TESIVGecko. How many problems do I have? I have a CTD ONLY when I stop playing and check online for news, new mods, etc. And that's only once in a while. Mesh mistakes? I've only one and that's for Iron Helmet.. I think it's due to one of the mods I downloaded also having a "fix" or "patch" that I missed.

Any other mistakes? yes, For some reason the monk robe keeps....how do I put this...Stretching out. Any NPC wearing this can be tracked by where they walked as the 'fabric' stretches from there to where they are now. I suspect one of the FCOM mods so thus I live with the problem rather than fixing.

Other than these minor things? nope.

@Shadowcran:

Hmmm... I really know how you feel for DR. But IMO you could just keep that hate of the mod to yourself. I don't think it's necessary to tell others how negative the mod is. Why not let the people experience DR, let them have their say and if they don't like it, then discuss it with them. :)

Anyway, the CTD issues are also due to the game engine itself. I myself have CTD issues, but they don't bog me down much as long as I'm having fun.

LMAO, so your solution to a buggy mod's problems is to let others experience the hell for themselves rather than warn them? That's really sadistic. Ok..It's time to play "SPOT THE SARCASM"

By all means, use Deadly Reflex. The crashes and shutdowns you experience are only part of the fun! If you are a masochist and want a crash to desktop mod, this is your best bet! Ignore all my advice and instead rely on those whose advice is to "buy a better PC". I know you have to be a recluse millionaire in disguise so just cash in one of those stocks and buy a new computer!! Then download Deadly Reflex and who knows? It might just work 10% of the time!! WOn't that make the whole purchase necessary?

While you're at it, feel free to go to the Deadly Reflex comments section and rate it a 10 so that others experience the fun for themselves! Who cares about wrecking your new computer(You're a recluse millionaire after all) when you might, just might, behead a pixel opponent. Don't even consider Adrenaline Locational. Sure it does the same things and more as Deadly Reflex without all the bugs, shutdowns and crashes but it isn't ranked!!! Rely on what children under 12 have decided is the most popular instead!! They can't be wrong, can they?

Also, even if your computer can't handle it, DL all kinds of resource eating mods. Yes, your game will only run for about 5 seconds at a time, but it will LOOK GOOD for those 5 seconds and isn't that more important than playing?

Whatever you do DON'T rate a mod low as that might cause others not to download it. They must experience the bugs for themselves. It's a learning experience for all.

yo man, stop the hating lol. Deadly Reflex has done nothing bad to my computer, maybe its just me (I don't have a beefy computer btw) or maybe its just you, but if it truly is a bad mod, it won't be on the top 3 mods on TesNexus. I haven't tried locational damage yet, and I not willing to, but it does have the same rating as deadly reflex does (literally, both are 9.82 right now). Especially with the recent updates and stuff, DR really included a lot more features that are fun to use.

What I really want to say tho, is that CTD can be caused by a lot of things, especially wrong tweaks in the .ini file. By undoing a lot of the tweaks "recommended" by a lot of people, it didn't help much and caused more CTDs (tho there are others that really help)

1 in every 2 people playing oblivion probably has that mod, and thast alllllloooot of people, if you look at other mods, theres always a few people that can't run it due to some weird reason. think of the amount as a ratio, not a number.

My thing is cut the guy some slack man, deadly reflex was a really complex mod if you haven't looked at the lines of scripts used in it already, and when stuff gets complex bugs tends to stick out, its unavoidable.

My point is, cut the guy some slack lol.

FYI

I am using Vista SP1, a crappy Nvidea 7350 card and 3gb of memory, on a midrange HP desktop. No showboating here.

I have invested over 700 game hours in my original oblivion game which I'm still playing. I'm also running a total of about 300 mods (bash patched) and

I RARELY have a CTD.

The few times I have, I've traced the problem to a missing normal map. Other than that, I normally play several hours at a time, a couple of times a week. During the summer I was able to play almost every day.

I don't use the Unofficial Oblivion Patch at all.

I recently installed Giskard's Overhaul and all is (still) well.

Maybe it's the mods you're using.

yep, a ton has it and there's been at least a ton of complaints on it.

DR Ranking: Ever notice those pesky "rating removed" holes on the comments sections of that mod? No, these aren't high ratings, only the low. Every low ranking is whined about to the moderators and taken away. I've seen them whine about someone who dared rate a low of 8 to that mod.

Anyway, I've ceased to care. by all means, DL the mod and then come here and post a help me thread. I won't bother helping anymore with any thread that even mentions Deadly Reflex. Any player having trouble with this mod from now on will have to rely on advice like "Buy a better PC" and "Here are my system specs" instead.

Those CTDs are nothing unusual with Oblivion. The game seems to have some severe memory leaks, which lead to CTDs after a certain playtime. Two things I do to be on the safe side:

1. Restart the game frequently. It takes all of 2 minutes to restart and might save you some grief.

2. Quicksave often, but be aware that only using quicksaves might be a bad idea, because (as mentioned before) those sometimes lead to CTDs, which in turn corrupt this savegame. So manually save in between.

Good luck and have fun.

Gotta disagree. Why are some people able to create a stable oblivion game then? Sorry, the idea you have to live with it, is just BS. I think some mods are unstable. If you must have those types of mods, then yeah maybe you're making a conscious decision to live with a frequently crashing game.

I agree with myrmaad. I run around 300 mods and the only crash I get is when exiting the game. If I find a mod that causes a ctd, it gets unloaded, regardless how much I like the mod. I like playing a stable game better.
