Occasional CTDs - normal?

Well, my system is usually stable and most games run smoothly. Oblivion though has been unstable since day 1 for me (with a completly different computer back then), no matter if or how many mods I install. The CTDs have an obvious connection to memory issues as I never have them if I spent extended periods of time in a single place, but get them more often if I travel a lot.

So, I disagree with your notion that I "make a concious decision to live with a frequently crashing game" or that it's "BS" (had to google that as I am not a native speaker and have to say: "Thank you for the respectful choice of words").

I must say, DR really was the source of my grief. My game hasn't crashed once since I removed it.

Agreed, DR has the tendency to make the game very unstable and I am reluctant to install it again, though I would like to try the new version.

In the end, all we can say is that everyone has a different experience. With some people it works like a charm, even with 300 mods installed, others can't even get a clean (patched) install to run properly.

That wasn't disrespectful, that's why I didn't just say "bullshit", but the words on the tip of my tongue are.

Since you're not a native speaker I'll try to let you off the hook, for not realizing that no disrespect was meant toward you, but toward the idea that you have to live with a crashing game.

Furthermore, if you're having crashes with Vanilla, you need to look at your background programs and turn them off.

I really don't feel the need to continue defending my experiences on this. You have your experiences, I have mine. Let's leave it at that, especially as you "tried to let me off the hook" (whatever that means).

EDIT: Google is my friend again. I am sorry if I misunderstood your intention with saying BS and that I misread that as disrespectful.

WOW, I don't know how a post about random CTDs could become such a computer spec. / DR hate fest, it's really sad. When all you try to do is offer some help, and if that requires posting some computer spec.to describe a possible solution, well woopdee friggn doo, get over it.

Well I'm not going to carry on, it just makes me very low when you try to offer help and others just want to be haters and bash you for no sensible reason.

STOP THE HATE

Oh by the way:

Happy Modding.

:thanks:
