RethAldren
So, I'm a fresh modder, with lots of ideas, a tiny bit of know-how and a ton of determination. Below, I'm going to list the current mods I have in mind, and a brief description of each. These mods are going to be made no matter what, but if reception is generally good, I'll make them public. What I'm looking for right now is two things: Feedback, including suggestions, comments, and general thoughts; and anyone that would like to help with these projects, in any way. These kinds of things are always easier with help and partnerships. Without further ado, taken right from my profile: New to the modding scene! Up-coming mods and mod ideas: Crono's Bottles of Skyrim Ever thought it was weird that your character could carry around thirty bowls of soup or stew and never spill a drop? Yeah. Me too. This mod makes this all go away by replacing bowls with several new models, rustic, lore-friendly bottles of your delicious warm meals. With permission, I'll add models for mod-added recipes as well. W.I.P. Crono's Magic Supplement This particular mod is my personal opinion on what mod-added magic supplements should be like. Hand-crafted spells, powers, equipment, and even brand-new enchantments! This mod will be painstakingly crafted to work both WITH other popular magic mods and all by itself. Includes: Conjure Flesh Atronach: Conjures a golem created from the bodies of the dead.Black Meteor: At the cost of 50% of the caster's health, a very large meteor is pulled from the Aetherium to crash into enemies.Boiling Blood: The targets blood itself heats to an impossible degree, melting the victim from the inside out.Aspect of Death: Huge, ethereal red wings sprout from the caster's back, causing fear amongst his enemies and inspiring faith amongst his allies.Knock: Unlock doors and containers.Projection of Self: Creates an ethereal image of the player. The player must sit and concentrate to use this. The image is controlled directly.Polymorph: Caster changes the appearance of an enemy. Dragon priest? No. Bunny.Polymorph Self: Temporarily transforms the caster into selected creature.Dancing Lights: 4-6 Randomly generated lights wink into existence around the caster, flying back and forth and lighting an area.Grease: Covers an area randomly generated in a slippery substance that causes everyone in it, including the Dragonborn, to slip and fall.Bonerot: Infects the target with an extremely debilitating disease. Lowers skills, stats, and occasionally causes the victim paralysis. And those are just the nice ones. W.I.P. Crono's Monster Supplement Another of my supplement mods, this follows a similar premise as the magic mod, but for monsters! Plays nice with other monster mods, or can be used standalone, and most importantly, it DOES NOT REPLACE MONSTERS! It also comes with its own additions to the level list. Includes: SirenSkyrim doesn't include many water-based hazards. Your welcome. HarpyThink Hagraven, only physically offensive. Oh, and they fly. MinotaurHalf-man, half-bull, all evil. They pack a punch. ManticoreThis thing is part scorpion, part lion, and part bat. Not to be taken lightly. And many more! W.I.P. The Castle of the Damned An adventure all in itself... A worldspace all in itself. Yet the whole thing is one giant castle. Inspired quite firmly by the Castlevania series, it even includes a brand new weapon, the whip, as well as appropriate perks and powers. W.I.P. The Tower of Sin Another adventure all in itself. A large tower inhabited by the personifications of the seven worst traits in man. Overcome these obstacles, and watch yourself ascend to new levels of power. W.I.P. Dream Sequences - The Fight Against Oneself Every ten levels, upon resting, your character will dream. In these dreams, you'll be faced with your worst fears, culminating in your greatest enemy - yourself. Can you triumph? W.I.P. Will be watching, and posting frequently. -Crono EDIT: I want to add in, I had an idea for an adventure mod that, I kid you not, sounds EXACTLY like the now Nexus supported game Legend of Grimrock. Took it out because... Well, dammit, I never knew about the game, but just go play that instead. Haha. Great minds think alike, I suppose. JanusForbeare
Of all of these, the Dream Sequences mod seems the most appealing. I like the idea of having dreams like any normal person, particularly if they're not epic, Vaermina-induced delusions, but just aspects of the player's own mind. If you're taking suggestions, I think there's a great opportunity there for smaller, independent dreams in between the main battles... maybe even ones that trigger after completing certain quests. For instance, you finish the "Blood on the Ice" quest, and have nightmares about being hunted by a serial killer on the streets of Windhelm, or something like that. The other one that interests me is the magic mod. A couple of questions: 1) About Black Meteor, do you intend for it to cost 50% of the player's current health, or their total health? 2) Any thoughts about adding some non-combat magic? I think that's the one thing that's missing from the spell mods currently available. Ultima VII had some great spells that weren't necessarily combat-oriented, such as a spell that summoned a large pillar of ice (which could be used to block doors, or could be climbed, etc.) or one that conjured food out of thin air. I think spells like these could make your mod a lot more distinct and unique.
RethAldren
I absolutely adore your idea for the dream mod. As for the magic, believe it or not, most of my spell ideas ARE non-combat! I did a horrendous job of showing that with the quick preview! Haha! Suggestions are one thing I really like. Other people have ideas too, and a lot of them are just as good, if not better, than mine. Your idea for the Dream Sequences proves that quite well. So thanks! And if you have any more, by all means, share. Oh, and my initial idea for Black Meteor was 50% of the player's total health. It can kill you. Its supposed to be a taxing spell... But I'm open to suggestions, of course. As far as my other spells go, I want them to be of a different vein than all the spell mods out there. I want them to be dark, gritty, and not at all pleasant... The way I've always envisioned magic. You have your bright, young sorcerers and sorceresses that come into magic with bright eyes and fresh faces... And then you have the old, wizened spellcaster that understands that magic is a terrible, terrible force. The power to make someone die without them even knowing what happened, seeing people ripped apart by lightning and burned alive by fire, killed with an invisible, flesh-eating disease. In all honesty, I think that alone would be enough to make many old spellcasters jaded and bitter. Power and responsibility, not so much in equal measure. Maybe its just me. EDIT: I'm fairly honored that you're the first to respond here. I've been following Atvir since sometime in July. Absolutely amazing. David Brasher
Skyrim Monster Mod has harpies and minotaurs. But I like mods that add monsters and would be happy to use your mod alongside Skyrim Monster Mod. The more harpies and minotaurs, the merrier! No need to spoon-feed the player, let us be responsible for our own well-being. :) And I can't wait to see what other spells you come up with. Non-combat magic would be a refreshing change. RethAldren
Skyrim Monster Mod has harpies and minotaurs. But I like mods that add monsters and would be happy to use your mod alongside Skyrim Monster Mod. The more harpies and minotaurs, the merrier! I promise you, my monsters are nothing like the ones found in SMM. I've been working on them a fair bit, and my monsters are all custom meshed, whereas SMM uses more of a... Palette swap for its harpies and the minotaurs. Not to mention my harpies are scripted to FLY. :) Oh, and my initial idea for Black Meteor was 50% of the player's total health. It can kill you. I don't mind expanding my original post a bit. It'll take a minute, but let me go more in-depth. By the way, I modified my original response to you, with my personal views on magic. EDIT: Finished. This should be a bit more variety. Added to main post. And... If you're really interested, I have no problem sending you a comprehensive list of what I have going on. The fact that your first post contained such an amazing idea has made me quite interested in your opinion. JanusForbeare
And... If you're really interested, I have no problem sending you a comprehensive list of what I have going on. The fact that your first post contained such an amazing idea has made me quite interested in your opinion. Absolutely! I'd be glad to take a look at what you have planned. It sounds like you've got some really great ideas in the works. :)
Staind716
Wow, very ambitious ideas here. I would definitely give the Magic, Monsters, and Dream Sequences a try. Might even be interested in the others as well. I'm just a little leery of these adventure type mods (no offense to you or your skills meant) because I have had quite a few bad experiences with these creating various issues in my game. To be fair though, I do run around 130 plugins so that could also factor into that. I would let others be the guinea pigs for those and once they were established and any bugs weeded out and conflicts known, I would also give these a go as well. I really love the ideas behind these and would love to try them out. Really the only thing I see in this list that I might not be crazy about would be the Grease spell. After reading it again just now maybe not. So the idea here is if in the middle of a battle for instance, when you cast this spell you have no idea where exactly the grease will spawn right? That actually might be a pretty cool addition since it could affect the player, the enemy, or both without knowing in advance what the outcome would be. Interesting idea. Hugely ambitious undertaking and I hope you manage to pull it all off. The vast majority of these feature some very original ideas. Unfortunately, the CK and I are not close friends and I am so involved in our ENB mods I can't help you with making this a reality. I do however wish you the best of luck and will be keeping an eye on your progress. Edited September 13, 2012 by Staind716
