scottym23
When you rescue the moth priest during the main questline of Dawnguard, he tells you that they work on the middle floor of the tower and what goes on at the lower levels. However he doesn't tell you what the upper levels are used for. Is this suppose to be a mystery to the player, or does it say what it's for somewhere in a book in one of the games? I'm really curious.
sirjafar
I don't recall anything other than what you posted. Keep in mind the white gold tower was the Emperor's castle, so the moth priests could probably just have one section. The moth priests were always a mystery to me in Oblivion, saldy Bethesda gave them a dungeon where they were the enemies[for no reason] and then didn't really give them any purpose beyond that. No way you could talk with them or interact, would have been more interesting if that place was treated as a town instead of as a dungeon. I remember at the end of that dungeon there was a crystal in the centre of the room that kept shooting fireballs at you, and you couldn't deactivate it. What the point of that was, who knows. daventry
What i find odd is, when you get noticed by the Blind Monks, they go all Ninja on you instead of being Blind and killing eachother, i mean how in the world do they not trip over a rock or run into a wall. Freya1997
I assume they got used to the darkness and learned how to use their other senses to compensate for their loss of sight. IIRC this is something which happens in real life too so it's not really that strange. Plus in a setting with magic, I'm sure they found other ways to deal with the downsides of being blind. luzburg
The top room is the head battlemage's quarters. I'm pretty sure thats where you end up in the thieves quest.

Actually, the version of White-Gold tower that you can explore in Oblivion is incomplete - there was no way to access the upper levels (see this for details). However, if I recall correctly, some parts of the novel "Lord of Souls" take place in the upper levels of the tower. The true nature of the tower is still something of a mystery, although it seems to be a counterpart of Direnni Tower in High Rock, and has something to do with maintaining Mundus' place in the cosmos.
