Items Turning Invisible On Ground

For instance, when I drop a pistol, it will move a little from the action, then turn invisible when still. In the tutorial quest, the bottles on the fence behind the saloon will be invisible, but when I jump on and run across it, they'll turn visible and fall off, then turn invisible again when settled. I have never had this issue before. When I installed my mods, I tested every last one before I began, then continued. I put the game down back in January of '18, and tried to pick it up for a new playthrough in September.

 

I don't know what could be going wrong, but it has since persisted. I don't want to reinstall everything because it is extremely tedious and time-consuming to mod that game as heavily as I have.

Have you tried toggling "ArchiveInvalidation" off-and-on again?

 

I'm not a modeller, but I usually associate that "invisible when dropped" problem with a missing "*_gnd.nif" file. But if you haven't changed anything since you last played, I don't see why those files would go missing. However I have recently been informed not all meshes need one, so their absence doesn't mean that is the problem.

 

The bottles on the fence being invisible until you get on the same level with them is extremely odd. Don't recall hearing of that problem before. Something similar can occur when creating a new model (having to do with rotation angle), but not with a vanilla game tutorial quest; unless you are using a mod that replaces those bottles..

 

OTOH, if you installed the game to the default "C:\Program Files(x86)" folder tree, there have been a number of Windows Updates since then that might have affected things. Which is why we recommend moving it out of that location.
