apokaliptian
I'm looking for someone who can make armours and weapons of Polish warriors from XVI\XVII century. 2 sabres, chainmail, platemail, few helmets. Maybe some clothes, other weapons and stuff. I can help by giving photos, explaining the names and giving advices. I'm not the best modder (in fact I don't know anything about mooding) but I really want to play the Hussar in Oblivion. Please help!

jaysus
good reference photos :) but without wanting to sound offensive that helmet looks terrible :Phow could we loose vs these guys XO bah... :P (tannenberg)btw are these pics of your own stuff?still dunno if i wanna do it... making models and stuff is fun and easy but getting the models to work in game is quite tedious mainly the armor... the weapons are no problem... but for that kind of armor you cant just copy and paste a weight rig from somin else since you have a change between materials quite often and each reacts differently to player moves and thus needs different properties to work properly...as for sabers did you ever try that kitties rapiers i know its not quite sabers but close... apokaliptian
Hah, maybe it doesn't looks great but it worked. Besides there were many types of this helmets so prabobly you'll find one for you. By Tannenberg (in Poland we call this battle Grunwald) you mean the battle in 1410? Hussars didn't fought in that battle becouse they were created nearly 100 years later. In Tannenberg/Grunwald battle polish knights didn't looked differently from knights of any other european country. If you want to read some more about the Hussars you can check this site http://www.hussar.com.pl But I must worn that translating it to english is in progress. It's not mine. First photo is from some museum. 3 next comes from the site of smith Tomala and next 3 are from site of smith Mardinus. First sabre is made by mister Mikiciak, next one I don't know (I don't even reckonize the puncmark). As I said I don't know much about modding so i have no idea is making this armour even possible. But having just a sabre still would be great. I saw that mod. It's a great job but the rapier is traditional weapon of the west Europe (especialy Germany and France were known of the best rapier-fencing masters). But in Poland we choose sabre as our national weapon. As in the XVI and XVII century Poland was always in a state of war from each side of our borders, we had to choose weapon that we could fight with any opponent. Sabre was the best for that. And in the proces of evolution and empirical changes we created the Hussar sabre as you can see it on the photos. White weapon experts says about "3 ultimate white weapons". The ultimate stabbing weapon is rapier and two ultimate slashing weapons are the japanese samurai katana and polish Hussar sabre.

apokaliptian
I'm really sorry about that. I've just translated common polish phrase "broń biała" without thinking about it. Translated word for word it means "white weapon" but generaly it means all the weapons that are not shooting. So all swords, axes, polearms and things like that. I was looking for some sabre mod to. Found only lightsabre. :verymad: So starting with the best sabre known to the world won't be bad don't you think? And thinking about the armour I've recolled that Hussars sometimes wore chainmail under platemail. So maybe the cuirass can be made by modifying the original Oblivion chainmail armour?
jaysus
ah i see ok XD was a bit scared lolits prolly derived from the white colour of steel i guess then... ya i think ill do one or two sabers i just need to finish my exploration in particle and animation export and once i understand that fully ill do them... as to armor ya basicly modelling wouldnt be such big a problem even tho its time intensive compared to a sword or saber but the real problem, as i tried to explain earlier, is that each point of the model needs to be given a weight as to be able to react according to the movements of the wearer and these weights also need to be different nearly every few vertices/points to create a realistic movement... and the real difficulty arises as i understand from what LH wrote about "rigging" if different materials espacially stiff things like metal plates meet movable parts like chain or cloth... you can sometimes just copy the whole rig from another armor but for that it should loojk as much the same as possible and for best resuslts even have the exact same amount of vertices/points... i did that for my capes but a cape is just a 2d plane compared to a 3d web of parts on an armor and thus errors wont be spottable that easy
