Polish XVI\XVII century armoury

Everyone seems to hate rigging. To be honest I'm no exception. It's a looong, boring, laborous and frustrating process.

It doesn't have to be. Blender has a copy script you can use to copy rigging from the body you want the armor to fit to the armor itself, which is invariably what I do in my own projects. Skirt rigging is trickier, but copying from the chainmail cuirass skirt or jclyde's FFBAB conversion nearly always works for me.

Here is a tutorial for Blender's copy script. I think 3ds Max has a similar functionality, but Vagrant0 would be the one to ask about that. ;)

Very large pauldrons can be a bit tricky as well (it's hard to avoid clipping with the front of the body in fighting position) but they're generally not that bad.

basicly that works but i think the differences between the plate and chain are to gross to just copy paste the rig...

the tuts on copy paste are in the cs wiki for blender aswell as max... its easy cheesy...

as for clipping... thats a feature of onlivion lol... even vanilla stuff clips like crazy

So... Hilt (?) (the part that character is holding the sabre) is too big. It should be shorter and thiner that when character is holding it it's completly under the hand. That part of a guard in a front of the sabre should be thicker.

I also wanted to ask if there's a chance of adding this ring on a thumb that the sabres on photos have?

making it yes thats possible but the problem is the alignement of the finger i would have to change all weapon holding animations to make it fit and not clip which then would clip with all other weapons... thus a no go... maybe just for looks without the thumb actually using it...

as to the hilt/handle length, i dunno if i make it shorter it looks awkward i think... clipping again :/ i can try though abit... maybe 1cm less or so should still be ok

what do you mean by making the guard thicker?

i see i have to remove the connection ffrom the guard to the blade as it just hovers above it and detailize that metal part on the back of the hilt

ill do a request for splitted tilesets now, then a helmet to try some stuff, then another hussar which will hopefully be correct i think ill leave the other one as it is tho (dont like picking up stuff again lol)

theyll end up in the blades compilation in the end
