FictionRyu
Recently I had downloaded a new mod. I installed that mod properly, just as it was instructed, I completed that quest (although in the mod description it said there was to be voice-acted..when I played there was none--speakers were at full, all other sounds were working fine) and then in my data files I unchecked that mod because I didn't want to have that mod active if I've already seen through its usage. Now fast-forward a little while, I tried fast-traveling to Solitude but every time I tried my game would crash to desktop while in the loading screen. I started a new character and went to Solitude..no problem at all. I also have been able to play out the game without any other problems. I just can't get into Solitude. Neither by foot or Fast-travel. Obviously it became apparent that that save file was "wonky" as I like to say. I've gone through my mods and none of them would've had problems with the aforementioned one. Now, I'm not saying that that mod is the cause, as I read the compatibilities for it and the incompatibilities, and it wasn't(didn't) have any problems with anything else. Is there anyway I can save my current save file? I don't have any older saves before this problem happened unfortunalty.
Vagrant0
This is why you ALWAYS use more than one save, and always make a safe save before adding any mods that you don't intend to keep permanently through that playthrough. I don't care if you're using mods or not, I don't care if it's on console or not... Things ALWAYS have a chance of getting corrupted. That said, once you enable quest mods, or mods which change the world you CANNOT disable them without starting over. That is simply just how these sort of mods usually work since they usually affect scripts, objects and NPCs within an area and will break that area if they are no longer found. You may be able to recover by finding the mod and installing it in the same EXACT load order, then use console commands to progress the mod to the point you removed it at, but as this sounds like it happened some time ago, you may be SOL. FictionRyu
Yea...I found out the hard way now. The mod in question is a very short one, all you do in the mod is Nirya would ask you to steal the research notes of her rival Altmer, Faralda and return them to Nirya or turn Nirya in. It was only pretty much a 5 minute quest. So there's no way I could fix my problem? Because everything else is fine, just I can't travel to Solitude. Vagrant0
So there's no way I could fix my problem? Because everything else is fine, just I can't travel to Solitude. Not without reinstalling the mod in the same load position. The problem could be anything from an NPC with changed scripts to an NPC who is trying to travel to/from a location which no longer exists. I don't know the mod, so can't really tell you much beyond that.
FictionRyu
I linked the mod in the original post so that those who read this could familiar themselves with it.. But I doubt that it would be an NPC trying to travel to Solitude. The only NPCS that are involved in the mod are at the College of Winterhold and don't go anywhere else other then there. I'm just going to start a-new.
