Quest scripting help request: Storming castles

This isn't a mod request, this is a request for information.

 

My desire is to create a situation where npc ask the player for help storming a castle to free some prisoners. There should be 2 options: "Yes" and the npc become allies, "No" and npc become enemies. Sadly, I have never written a quest any more challenging than a courier letter quest so while I comprehend the most basic concepts of "stage 0, stage 10", my knowledge ends there.

 

I have a mod where there are a dozen npc attacking a fort that is filled with Thalmor. There are more npc imprisoned inside. As it is now, all npc are enemies: bandits and Thalmor. The player just walks in and kills everybody. I thought it would be interesting if the player were able to choose to lead a group of npc into the fort, defeat all the Thalmor, rescue the prisoners and bring them outside.

My idea is almost identical to the Civil War quest: free the prisoners from Neugrad. If someone were willing to help me reconstruct this quest on my own mod, it would be very cool and I'd certainly give you credit on the mod page. Please teach me if you have such knowledge.
