Skyrim UI

Recommended Posts

So I have another project I am working on here (seen below) that I need help understanding how/what files I need to alter to get it to work. Right now what you see in the screenshot below is just a photo overlay. Concept of what I would like it to look like. Technically all the elements are done there, they just need to be done with the right swf action scripts & animations to be implemented into Skyrim. Problem is I can not seem to find anything about how or where to find the necessary scripts to do it.

Man... I may be wrong... but I do belive you will be dealing with pretty hardcoded elements here...

Also will need go futher them bethesda like and aprooves modders go.. (so to say you will need to edit things not suposed to be edited).

But, good luck, its a nice challenge to take. You have my support.

Sorry not being able to help :(

No problem. The hud is indeed hard coded, some of it, but it is run on flash (based on or using the Scaleform UI which just adapts .Swf files to a game engine ) believe it or not. All of the hud elements are inside the Skyrim - Interface.bsa. I am just working on getting the new elements animated correctly. From there I actually need help from someone who has experience doing Action Script (I am still a newb with it) and skyrims call functions.

So far this project is : I can make the new look. But putting it into the game is something I need some help with. There is very little documentation that I can find aside from some corrected raw files that shlangster pointed me towards.

I hate to reply to your thread and not be able to help, but I have to tell you the concept is awesome!

When I first started modding for Oblivion, the game had been out for 3 or 4 or 5 years already, and there was still paltry documentation and very few tutorials on anything. A lot of modders will find a way to make something work and publish their mod, but they never publish their methods. I wound up writing a few tutorials and wiki pages myself as I figured things out the hard way. So basically what I'm saying is, keep hacking at it, even if nobody on the forums has the answer :) You might be breaking new ground!

As a side note, the best UI mod I've seen is SkyUI which makes a lot of changes to the inventory interface. Those guys might be who you want to talk to.

When you finish this mod, I'll play it :D

Yeah I have talked to Shlangster who is the mod author, or apart of the SkyUI team. He directed me to those extracted source files for the UI system. But like I said, not very much documentation. So it is undiscovered country I am forging into. Going to spend the next couple of days pouring over an action script book and scaleform UI mechanics.

Kaplah! Make a post when you make some progress, I want to see this when you're done!

Yep, I will make an update pretty soon. Trying to get as much done as I can before I get lost into Torchlight 2 at the end of the week. But I wont abandon this project, because Skryim is just awesome. On the same note, I will probably be doing a similar project for Torchlight 2 as well since they too love their modding community. XD
