alaithos
Hello there  I do not want to see the empty scabbard when my weapon is drawn. Is there a mod that can do this?
LoginToDownload
I can't think of a way to "vanish" a scabbard when drawing a weapon, aside from rapidly switching versions with/without scabbards, but removing a scabbard altogether is very easy if you have a BSA unpacker and NifSkope. Open up the weapon's .nif in NifSkope, under the Block List remove the NiTriStrips scb:0, (You might need to expand if you use tree view) save, and place it in the appropriate Oblivion/Data location. Thank you for your reply  I am still working though this (newbie alert) and did not want to give the impression I had forgotten to say " thanks to you". So far I have managed delete 20181 meshes from the data folder and had to reinstall Oblivion a few times :wallbash: There is always hope "I WILL HAVE A SCABBARDLESS ELVEN SHORTSWORD!" I know where my problems have been (between my ears moslty  ) and I should be back in a few hours to say another thank you and a short message of success. PS are you familiar with BSA Commander? I may have a question on this later. cheers
alaithos
Hello again LoginToDownload, I am some what stuck with repacking the edited .nif back into the meshes archive. My first attempt failed to retain the un-edited meshes (which lead to the below mentioned deletion of 20181, as a bit of humour the only mesh I had in Oblivion was the elven shortsword with no scabbard. Sure I got what I asked for but I did want to retain all other meshes as well as the scabbardless shortsword, and for the record loading Oblivion with only one mesh makes a lovely sound) I can not seem to find the option to replace the edited .nif back into the archive, using BSA Commander. Do you have any suggestions or links to tutorials (I have looked for tutorials but to date all I find is unpacking guides and not re-packing) On a seperate issue, can a newbie give Kudos..ess? (or is the plural kudi). No reason in particular (except maybe not wanting to ruin a surprise)
jaysus
you dont put it back in the archive but in the relative folder path (data/meshes/weapons/blabla folder - the same it was in the archive)
alaithos
you dont put it back in the archive but in the relative folder path (data/meshes/weapons/blabla folder - the same it was in the archive) That makes perfectly good sense. However, in NifSkope when I use "Save As" I can not find the data/meshes/weapons/blabla folder (the same it was in the archive), the directory's availble for saving does not recognise the "Oblivion-Meshes" Oblivion Archive folder. I copied and pasted the address of the pre-modified .nif in the "Save As" field (I then got a "meshes\weapons\elven\shortsword.nif already exists - replace it", so I said yes). I then unpacked the modified "Oblivion-Meshes" Oblivion Archive to see what .nif was stored as "meshes\weapons\elven\shortsword.nif" and it is the scabbardless .nif. In game my character still has scabbard at all times. Could it be that I need to edit the texture as well as the mesh? or does removing the scabbard mesh force the textrue to be redundant? jaysus
1stif there is no such folder as oblivion/meshes just create one... nifsope lets you save wherever you like2ndoblivion uses the files from the folder and gives em a higher priority than the ones in the bsa archive thus loading folder meshes more eagerly3rdya deleting the scb (for scabbard) node in nifskope is enough - the texture will be deleted aswell (use block->remove branch on the scb node to get rid of it completely...) Sorry to hijack this thread but would the reverse add a scabbard to a weapon that doesn't have one? For example the magic sword you acquire with the Battlehorn Castle plugin has no scabbard when sheathed. CAn you pull a scb file from one weapon nif and add to this one? jaysus
yup... but most scabs need a specific weapon form to fit properly or the blade sticks out somewhere if your unlucky... id try the elven one for the castle sword as its quite the biggest avaible and that sword is big ;)just make sure you copy the whole scb branch over or the scab will be part of the sword itself...
