Daelyn
I was playing earlier this year, and everything worked fine. i was running skyrim script extender along with over 200 mods - no problem. There was an update to the game that I could see on steam, so I updated the game, and then updated SKSE, but now no matter what is done, SKSE says Skyrim SE is using a newer version than SKSE supports. I have reinstalled everything and nothing is able to work. I am launching the game through SKSE on Vortex. Is there an issue here that I should be aware of? Whenever I try launching without SKSE the game goes to the menu screen, but then seems to get stuck on loading it correctly, which can be seen in the bottom right corner. Daelyn
What is confusing me more is that when the message comes up it states that it's SKSE 2.0.15, and not the 2.0.16, but considering that I have freshly installed Skyrim SE and a new SKSE 2.0.16, I think that they just failed to update the 2.0.16 message to the current one. New game, saved game, with or without SKSE, none of it works! What the heck is going on?
anjenthedog
idk. I'd try launching the game with a desktop dropped shortcut from the SKE executable itself and see if maybe your Vortex configuration is the culprit resulting in that version mismatch. That's how I've been running the game since I installed SKSE. (fwiw)

It loads it up and this thing on the bottom right just keeps on cycling and nothing happens. The game is unplayable right now. Thanks for your idea though. anjenthedog
Bummer. so infinite load loop. Hmm... I suggest a google/whatever search on "Skyrim infinite loading bug", perhaps narrowing it down to the veriosn version or adding "Special edition" if necessary. (maybe even within these fora). I've come across comments about that issue but since it didn't pertain to me, I simply scrolled on by without lodging anything of value into my cranium on the subject. Although it seems to me that there is some sort of fix. (I do accidentally lodge some info but little if I'm not directly interested) good luck friend. edit: here's a thread on Nexus that discusses the issue. Maybe it'll help you https://forums.nexusmods.com/index.php?/topic/6976756-infinite-loading-screen/
