Draghy
I got a SSD and put Windows on it. I still have NV on the other hard disk however I can't play it since those configs in the Windows/Registry whatever are no longer there. Reinstalling the game will fix those I suppose but how can I keep my mods? Should I copy paste the FONV directory? And replace the appdata or wherever the game stores load orders and such? Do I need to reinstall all the mods manually? It'll probably take forever and I'm not even sure I'll be able to make the game run again since I don't really remember all the stuff I did to get the modlist stable. dubiousintent
The mods don't care where they are installed. Your mod manager should be able to let you change where it looks for them. Copying the mods and the FNV Folder from one location to another will work. If so, do that first. But if you are leaving the game files on your old Hard Drive, then all you should really need to do is have Steam "move/install" the game to the different drive letter of the old drive. As you recognized, the most important thing is to then get the registry entries for the game fixed up, and indeed re-installing is the way to go. Then update your mod manager as to where to find the game. The wiki "Installing Games on Windows Vista+" article has the link to the official Steam procedure for moving, along with some supplemental info. If you re-install the game to the new location (old Hard Drive), it will be as if you ran the "verify local files" routine. Your old "load order" should work fine. Your game files under the "C:\Users" tree will need to be moved, unless you prefer to tell Windows to use the old drive for your "Users" folder. I suggest you "copy" rather than "move" the FNV folder from the old to the new location if you go that route. Keep the old one intact until you have confirmed the move was successful, in case you need to re-try the process. -Dubious-

Is there any difference in the way I should proceed? Also I want to reinstall it on the old Hard Drive. Only to get the registry that is in the SSD updated and fixed up. The Users and localdata would also be in the new SSD. Edited July 25, 2019 by Draghy
dubiousintent
Found the following on the web searching on "GOG move games": All you have to is COPY the game folder containing the game files to the new drive first. Then you can uninsall the game from Galaxy and use scan and import (found under the GOG COM logo in the top left) OR by going to the library -> <game> -> MORE -> manage installation -> import folder to point it to the game folder you just copied. Once that is done, Galaxy will verify / repair the game and it will be playable again (if it doesn't do it automatically just go to MORE -> manage installation -> verify / repair). The is by far the quickest easiest way to do it without a re-download. If you don't use Galaxy and don't have the classic site installers then you will have to re-download the game. And as far as you're saves, if using Galaxy they may be backed up into the cloud but you may also want to manually back them up to be on the safe side. These should be in your documents folder.Just moving the game folder may also be good enough, but for best results using the scan and import function in Galaxy will repair any registry entries, etc. Others gave similar instructions. As for the "localdata" folder, it is under the "\Users<yourAccountName>\AppData\Local\FalloutNV" folder tree. Just copy that folder from the old to the new "C:\Users" location. The same applies to the "\Users<yourAccountName>\Documents\My Games\FalloutNV" folder. Do those before you re-install. Again, protect yourself against the possibility of failure to the maximum extent possible. Murphy's Law always applies" If anything can possibly go wrong, it will do so in the worst possible way at the worst possible time." -Dubious-
Draghy
Ok so I kept my modded installation and installed another copy of the game in a separate locations and then fired up the modded version after moving the AppData and My Games folders and everything runs the same as it did. Thanks for the help.
