Deleted4404112User
If you have been recently experiencing lag and fps drops you need to check for an update for your graphics driver. About two days ago an update was released that fixed all of my lag and fps drops. I'm now playing on high quality settings with 30-60 fps. Before I could only play on low quality with 15-30 fps and lag. I have an nvidia geforce gtx 260 which is the minimal requirement for Skyrim. blitzen
Thanks for the notice. I did not realize nvidia had released new drivers. Anyone considering updating might want to read this: http://www.evga.com/forums/tm.aspx?m=1174372&mpage=1 I had a very difficult time getting a complete uninstall. There is at least one restart needed before you are able to uninstall everything, and windows would update the nVidia software automatically during this restart, before I had finished removing everything. Very obnoxious. There may be some way to prevent this. I had to install the new drivers on top of what windows decided to update automatically, but before the required restart for what it had done. I seem to have ended up with what I wanted though. Edited September 16, 2012 by blitzen

Then I had to restart my computer a couple of times, but I guess I can't complain :)
blitzen
I rolled back to 296, which is 2 versions back. After I updated to 306, each blade of grass seemed to have it's own shadow, and any time the camera moved, there was a lot of shimmering coming from grass everywhere due to the constant shadow flickering. It was very distracting. I also saw odd red and/or yellow flashes on the screen on rare occasions. I saw that flashing happen with version 301 of the drivers, which I uninstalled after using them for about 10 minutes when they first came out. So 296.10 just seems to work best for me, for whatever reason. I'm running with version 1.6 of Skyrim. I don't know if that makes any difference with respect to nvidia drivers. I have been using all the new betas and no problems at all.
