[LE] Skyrim Nifskope "Could not load texture data for UV editor"

Recommended Posts

I had a lot of trouble getting my 1st attempt at importing a 3d model into the creation kit. The biggest issue I had was that I got the "Could not load texture data for UV editor" message when I tried to use the UV editor in Nifskope. I found a solution ;- In an early version of Nifskope, (which allows the import of 3ds and obj files), find the "NiTriShapeData" branch and select it, then in "Block List" find "BS Num UV Sets" and set it's value to "4097". I found the solution to this problem in "Elianora's" Youtube tutorial "Modding Mini Tutorials: Fixing Normal map & glossiness issues" - Thanks Elianora.

P.S. I found that many of the older 3d mesh importation tutorials were incomplete, because image files had been deleted from hosting sites, or the author had not had the difficulties I had, and had posted a partial solution to the problems. I think that a new tutorial is needed which does not use blender or 3dmax, as the learning curve is already steep.
